I would clarify what they mean by replacement, leaking gearboxes usually only require new oil seals.........but even thats a pig of a job, so still a good price! poucinet 28-02-2006, 08:27 They put some oil in my Kia Picanto which you could smell the stench of in the cabin. I asked them to fix it so they replaced it with the same type of oil which smells. Eventually got my car serviced at the proper time by Kia and surprise surprise, the nasty smell of oil has gone. I think Autocraft do a fair job on servicings - but they do put in Forté treatment which costs about £40 a time. pinky_786 01-03-2006, 00:28 it was actually the gear linkage part that they replaced, brand new part was put in. sharpend 01-03-2006, 08:38 Replacing the whole gearbox is a big job - £176 sounds too cheap :suspect: loobyloo 01-03-2006, 09:39 I use them twice a year to service my (very) high mileage 106xsi and keep her on the road, they've always been straight with me, shown me exactly what they needed to do and why, and charged me more reasonable prices than previous garages . Plus they understand that I love my car, don't want (and can't afford) a new one and am entitled to ask slightly dim questions when they are pointing stuff out to me! Your decision , but I'm more than happy with them. |
