View Full Version : Windows Vista Line Up Savannah2 27-02-2006, 19:28 Interesting for Windoze fans (http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2006/feb06/02-26WinVistaProductsPR.mspx) daleam 28-02-2006, 09:02 Yeah, I think this is stupid, way to go MS, you've done it again. Why not maybe 3 versions; Starter, Home and Pro. Easy. Surely. Nazo 28-02-2006, 09:25 Well, I'm excited by the 'professional-looking, transparent glass design'. Good to see they're focussing on what's important:rolleyes: probedb 28-02-2006, 10:44 I'll wait till it's been out for a year before giving it a try. Gives the bugs a while to be ironed out :) dosxuk 01-03-2006, 15:02 Yeah, I think this is stupid, way to go MS, you've done it again. I don't see why this is stupid. Most home users have no need for stuff like IIS and domain networking, why include this in the basic versions when all it does it open up additional routes of attack. IMHO there should be about 20 different versions, in a locked down configuration, so there is no chance of people turning on 'bad' stuff without realising. Why not maybe 3 versions; Starter, Home and Pro. Easy. Surely. Thats what they've got, then two more versions customised for business use, and one with all the bells and whistles removed for developing markets. Yes we could all use Vista basic, but I don't think anyone would want to pay to upgrade to it. How many different versions of linux are available? |
