Thinking of changing from Lloyds TSB to First Direct.
I've heard really good reports about FD. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions?
As it's basically a phone service, how do you deposit cheques?

You can deposit a cheque at any branch of HSBC, or post them to their freepost address in Leeds.
Excellent bank to be with!

Im with First Direct, never had any problems with them
First Direct are great, but they won't budge on charges at all. I once had my wages paid in two minutes after my direct debits went out, and was overdrawn by about £30 for all of two minutes. I got charged £30 for it, and they refused to refund it.
It's the way they work, but for everything else they're fantastic. Their telephone service is prompt, based in leeds and the staff are very well informed. I don't bank with them any longer though because I got a bit confused with having different accounts everywhere, and I mainly used them for the high interest e-accounts they offer, until Northern Rock started offering more attractive savings accounts.
Thanks for the speedy replies.
Think i'll give them a try.
Don't have problems with Lloyds, but they just don't seem to offer any exciting.
I really like First Direct. My decision to switch to them was probably the best financial decision I ever made.
You can sort anything out anywhere in the world as long as you have access to a phone and they are nice people to deal with.
Only downside is the amount of junk mail, but I suppose all banks are like that.
Excellent bank. Although I don't use them, I do use HSBC. Had plenty of dealings with First Direct through my work. Efficient staff as well!
