Just tried to swap or leccy provider to british gas so that they`re both with the same company as they`re always trying to get you to do it. Thought we might save a pound or 2. Big mistake. After a 1 hour phone call we were told that as we were on pre pay meters and wanted to go to a billing system we would have to fork out £180 pound. When we questioned this amount they said it was a deposit that would be refunded at the end of the first year if we paid our bills on time. They also said that there wouldn`t be any financial reward for changing our supplier to them. It`s as if they don`t really want your custom.

British Gas ????? Helloooo.....Are you completely mad? That's the last supplier you should be going to, their prices are way above all the others by a mile.

I would just like to advise anyone reading this page that yes British Gas's price's have rised but if anyone can tell me which company hasn't? You may or may not have seen the news but from 10 March 2006 Powergen's prices will raise 24.4% for gas and 18.4% for electrcitiy. I am a British Gas customer and am on their new Price Protection offer until 2009. You are all complaning about prices going up but if British Gas are paying 202% higher for their gas why should they have to pay all that and us just sit here and pay the lowest prices in europe???? Every company and i mean EVERY company has increased its gas and electricity prices this year. My advise is stay with British Gas get on their price protection which means that you are covered until 2009 - also if you have both gas and electrcitiy with British Gas and you have a BT telephone line - ring them up as you are entiteled to FREE EVENING AND WEEKEND CALLS WHICH IS £66.00 CHEAPER THAN BT AND IT IS FREE CALL THEM AND SEE. Also i have been looking on Ofgem's website (Office Of Gas And Electrcitiy Markets) there is an investigation going on at the moment with Uswich.com and other switching websites as they are not 100% indipended, they get paid on commision and do not give you a correct figure. I was looking in the paper as well the other day which says that British Gas ( Centrica Plc ) is the only British energy company in the UK the rest are German and Frensh. Why should German and Frensh companys be allowed to trade in the UK when British Gas are not allowed to trade in Germany or France that is why prices are so high because the European Union will not Privertise all these energy companys in there. Surley we should be staying with our own company.
