Who will pick up the Bill, any Councillors out there to give some answers.
Sheffield Homes/Keepmoat are in the process of replacing my boundary wall.
Under the regeneration grant, work started in November, the wall was built, the fence erected on top.
They had forgotton to put the topsoil on, so they tried to load it over the fence, they damaged the wall
so bad that half of it had to be taken down, in this process they left a approx 60 ft fence balancing on top of what
was left of the wall over the weekend, it fell into the street taking a brick pillar with it.
I phoned the Health and Safety who said they would come and look,
meanwhile the dumper truck driver, who had caused the damage came and tried to remove the evidence,
I told him I had phoned Health and Safety, and not to remove anything, he gave me verbal abuse and told me
he was going to shift it.
I pushed him back to his dumper and held him there, this was put as down as threatening one of their operatives.
Sheffield homes told me they would complete the work on my wall but would not do any other work on my home
as I had used threatening behavior to one of their workers.
If stopping someone from breaking the law is classed as threatening where does that leave us.
I recieved a thank you letter from Health and Safety
Work re-started on the wall and it was nearly finished, they came and put the fence back on,
a workman came to finish off the brickwork, the day after I noticed big cracks along the full length
of the wall, my first thought's were he had caused the damage by clambering over the fence,
ie:the cement had'nt quite set, but when I spoke to him about it and we checked how solid the brickwork was
we looked for another cause.
THIS IS WHERE IT WILL BE A FUTURE BILL for the Council tax payers, the quick set concrete they used to fix the
fencing to the top of the wall had expanded and caused the wall to split ( this is my opinion and
I would like someone with knowledge of this to look into it )
Sheffield Homes came and had a look and said the would get their structural engineers to look into it.
I have looked around the area and there is evidence of this happening to quite a few properties,
AND THEY STILL CONTINUE TO USE THE SAME METHOD EVEN KNOWING THERE IS A PROBLEM
under nearly every post they have fitted using this method there is evidence of splitting.
Whilst this work is being done under the regeneration grant to private and council property's
after six months the responsibility for the upkeep will pass to the Council and home owners.
HENCE THE BILL TO THE COUNCIL TAX PAYERS
Does no one check the contractors work anymore
If so they must be doing it from the back of a galloping donkey to miss the faults which are blatently obvious.
It is now coming up to four months since they started work on my property,
what a poor show from Sheffield homes.
Is there anyone out there who has had this work done if so check the wall below your fence posts.
