Please tell me that this is not happening. A member of the Sheffield & District Landlords Association told me that there is an all Asian/Muslim wing in the development because many of the Asian/Muslim student tenants did not want to live alongside none Muslim people.
It's no good any of us ranting and raving about this until we find out if its true. If it is true have they opened the door to all none Muslim residences?

What a load of balls! My best mate lives in a 5 room flat at the Forge. There's her and one other lass that are white and 3 males, 2 of which are muslim and the other is from Saudi Arabia (not sure if he practices religion...)...
...and I wouldn't bother ringing the Forge, they are the rudest members of staff I've ever encountered!

And do you think that they would tell me?
Yes, if they have an entire wing, its not the sort of thing that can be easily disguised :P

I admit there are many asian people living in my mate's block, but I wouldnt go as far to say that they'd been segregated because its clearly not true.

He wasn't called Roy James, was he?
It's fair to say that it's not uncommon for parents of asian girls to want them to share only with other asian girls. It's a cultural thing - I don't see a problem with that. In some ways it's quite understandable.
However... ;)
The girls don't usually give a stuff, but keep up the pretence for the parents whilst living the same life as any other normal student.
I reckon it would only be a problem if Muslims were forced to live separately. If they choose to then that's their perogative. Let's face it, student halls are just flat shares on a larger scale, and no-one would want to share a flat with someone whose lifestyle might clash with their own. There could be many entirely non-sinister lifestyle reasons why, e.g. it could simply be down to not wanting to share kitchen facilities with those who do not eat Halal. Could also be that they do not want to be in a flat with those who drink.
They still have things like all-women corridors in halls, or blocks dedicated to those who prefer to be quiet and which do not allow loud music. Why would wanting to share a flat with fellow Muslims be any different? Why force people to live in the same flat as someone who has a lifestyle they might find difficult to cope with? If so then we might as well say that non-smokers should shut up moaning and put up with living with chain smokers in a flat. It's not like all Muslim students want to live together, but if some do, then let 'em.
