View Full Version : Diamond 'Blush'
fierysatsuma 26-02-2006, 19:23 Did anyone used to drink Diamond Blush (not Diamond White), I think it was 'white' but with a hint of blackcurrant, althouth it didn't taste of blackcurrant.
Can you still buy it, I've not seen it in years..
mistyraven 26-02-2006, 21:09 No but I did drink that Diamond White and it made me very nasty:(
Bikertec 26-02-2006, 21:12 probably the alcohol in it.;) :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
Only Kidding.
mistyraven 26-02-2006, 21:46 :nono: HOPE YOUR OK BIKERTEC
Bikertec 26-02-2006, 21:49 Yes thankyou sweetheart.:hihi:
Godzilla 26-02-2006, 22:25 Diamond white used to be my all time favourite tipple. If a pub didn't servie it, it didn't drink there. Then, with the advent of alchopops they changed the recipe - can't stand the stuff now. It's probably saved my liver!
antisocial 26-02-2006, 23:05 Both Diamond White and Diamond Blush were my drinks of choice during my student years.....oh the pain and embarassment they caused...including the night I thought Diamond White and Mad Dog would be an interesting cocktail when friends had to hold me back from the bar and the only time I have offered anyone outside:gag:
EdnaKrabappe 27-02-2006, 06:13 Diamond white was lethal and came out when i was about 16 and just discovering pubs.
I saw so many people's personality change on that stuff - my mate who could drink me under the table any day, went wappy on it, ran home for half mile in bare feet from my house, sat in a corner and wouldn't talk to her parents, one girl who drank for England had to go to hospital on it and another fell over and cracked her head after a daytime session.(she also had her stomach pumped)
I preferred Two dogs or Hooch which was far more civilised.
I remember Diamond White and Diamond Blush, i think the latter was lower in Alcohol percentage, they have both got me nto a few dodgy situations, mind you it was when i was 15/16 hanging on the streets etc....
What about Thunderbird and 20/20??
It must have been 1987 and I was still underage for drinking. A friend had an 18th party at the local village hall, to which around 100 other kids of a similar age were invited. There was a disco, and a huge buffet, and best of all, a cheap bar! Diamond Blush was on sale for 50p a bottle as the bar was subsidised, and as it was a private party we were able to buy booze freely. I spent a tenner on Diamond Blush, which is a lot of bottles. The place ended up trashed, there was a food fight, fire extinguishers were set off, and we all sat on the vinyl 'cushion' in front of the bar and it fell down. There was a lot of throwing up, smoking and random bad behaviour, and those living nearby called the cops. I walked home across one mile of fields and somehow forded a stream in pitch darkness, none of which I remember. But I do remember waking next day covered in filth, to the sound of my mother screaming about the sick in the bathroom, and I vowed never to drink Diamond Blush ever again. :o
absynthfairy 27-02-2006, 11:19  I used to drink these too - i always thought that diamond white tasted like cheap salt and vinegar crisps - those chipstick things.
Other teen drinks of choice were thunderbird (paintstripper - how we drank that I will never know) 20,20 and fortified cherry wine. How classy. I used to like castaway too - before graduating to taboo and lemonade when I was finally legal!
Rachylou 27-02-2006, 11:34 WOW....diamond white and blush....i used to drink those when i was about 20 and they turned me into a paranoid schitzo!!!!(dont know the correct spelling sorry) we used to pour a castaway into a glass of diamond white and call it a blastaway. I would never touch the stuff now its lethal!!When we used to stay in we'd buy a bottle of white lightening' anyone remember this? the cheaper version of diamond white....yuck:gag: but then we'd drink anything back then!
Mad Dog 20/20 I could stomach but Diamond White/Blush were both pretty nasty. And Thunderbird was the vilest thing known to man. We used to fo blastaways too. Cos we all liked the taste of Castaway (can you still get it?) but it was too expensive to buy much. Our cheap ciders of choice were generally Special Red and Spectra. Mmmm
White Lightening! My mate once drank to much of this vomited blood!
Whats all this talk about todays binge drinkers its been around for years!!
beansforyou 27-02-2006, 16:38 I used to drink Blastaways, bottle of diamond white & bottle of Castaway in a pint pot...I too became indestructo-woman
I (vaguely) remember one party, where I had drank a bottle of thunderbird and quite a few diamond whites before getting to the hosts house (I was about 16)I dont actually remember any of the party....the next day I awoke to find I had lost a filling, and cut all the bottom of my feet to ribbons, as well as had alot of bumps and bruises on my head.
Apparently I had had a good night.

Well that's true! I think the drinks of the late 80s/early 90s were more like psychopops than alcopops. :o
What about that Blue 20/20? I think it was supposed to taste of coconut but it was more like meths. Thunderbirds came in 'red' or 'blue' varieties, what was the difference? I remember getting hammered on the stuff at Spike Island watching the Stone Roses. *shudder* Who ever drank Black Oak cider? £1.99 for two litres. Bejeesus....
Just thinking about all that stuff keeps me well away from alcohol full stop. :o
I think diamond white was one of my first drinks. Then I discovered Diamond Blush which tasted marginally nicer... when I went to uni Two Dogs and Hooch appeared in pubs so I moved onto them... I remember the odd night drinking 20/20 which was disgusting (it was buy 1 get 1 free or something)
I can't drink alcopops now.. they're all way to sweet, I'll stick with my cocktails and smirnoff Norsk and lemonade thanks!

Red was stronger than blue - we saved that for non school nights (Hope my dad isnt reading this). Thunderbird cola existed too - now that was VILE.
