Hi all
Anyone know of any mountain bike or hiking get togethers that happen around the south west of the city.
Prefferably mountain biking. Nothing serious as extreme mtb'ers are just too much.

How about we start one?

I can't find the other thread on getting a few people going out biking followed by a beer, but there seemed to be a little interest, and I need to start exercising quick. I'll still want the beer at the end though!

How about it, tomorrow night 6pm for example. Any takers?

Do you wanna lend me a bike :)

Seriously though if I manage to convince brother in law that I'd be better off with his bike sometime in the near future I might be up for it.

i gotta sort out some bits and peices for my bike but after that i would be on for this also.

i am in need of getting fit for august as i have [foolishly] signed up for the SITS 24hour event and havent been on my bike for a year due to being in spain drinking beer and eating tapas.

im pretty new to the area and so having someone to show me the trails would be a definate bonus. oh yeah, im in the bike and then beer class also. whats the point in getting too serious ;]

we could try and use some of the routes that get published in the mags every now and then, they are usually about a 20m loop... think i have a mag with one in there.

Romario

Ok,
So we have a Sheff Forum mountain bike team,
I live in the Dore/Totley area (currently) & i think this area or Endcliff park is a good starting point, Hunters Bar roundabout, then mabe straight up through mayfield valley & then the Norfolk arms, a good, bike friendly watering hole ( i know the owners) eh, eh, although not enough for free ale!

Anyone up for meeiting, either of a night now they are light or a weekend!
I finish work at 2pm so anytime after this is cool.
If interested PM me & we'll organise!

It's like trying to organise a pissup in a brewery!

wibbles

Surely its easy to organise a pi$$ up in a brewery??
Unless the person is an idiot then you would use the term you couldn't organise a pi$$ up in a brewery. So in this case YOU couldn't organise a pi$$ up in a brewery!! :D

How about a gentle ride around Ladybower for beginners - bikes can be hired for £9?

tas1

Ladybowers good - if you can park in the bays on the road close to the main car-park or you'll have to stump up 2:50 for a days parking.

The bikes there can be a bit ropey - or the one I had was.

If it's a nice day then a picnic out at slippery stones at the very end of derwent/howden would be good.

Hey fellas.

At the risk of being utterly crap I'm gonna have to duck out of the Hope trip on that Sunday. It's my mates 30th birthday and I'm organising a party for him - it's gonna gobble up most of that Saturday

Sorry dude - i'm still really up for getting out there. How about the following weekend?

spinac
09-09-2004, 08:59
no problem - will definitely do more soon. i think pranav is keen to do 25th so will go ahead anyway. sorry can't make w/e 2nd oct as organising charity abseil (www.spinac.com/abseil.aspx - places still available), in spain w/e 9th oct and have family get-together w/e 16th oct. Is 23 oct any good? maybe you could get together with pranav before then? enjoy the party - keep in touch

I ve got some you-can-see-me lights but not the I-can-see-the-way-down-a-dark-wooden-path-at-night type. So we'll have to get the off road stuff done before 6.30-7.00

Conor_Boyd

sounds fine to me. im going to try and leave a little earlier then. so maybe we can meet at 5pm or something. that will give us an extra 30 mins or so. im testing out some lights i got here atthe mo. if they are ok i can loan you something that you can see the trail with.

Probably head up endcliffe vale parks and then out over towards burbage edge. Haven't finalised the route yet so can probably be altered a bit if need be!
