Hi,

I am considering doing an evening course in Chesterfield (live iin Sheffield) and would need to travel there 2 evenings a week monday and thursday going there about 5pm and coming back after 9pm. Does anyone know what is the quickest most convenient option to do this - train or bus and what are the bus details ?

I havent taken the train to Chesterfield so I cant say if its easier but I would think it is as some of the buses to Chesterfield can take forever. Take the 727 I think it is. That is really quick.:)

Train takes about 12-15 minutes depending on if it stops at Dronfield. 2 or 3 trains every hour. It'll cost about £3.50, and the trains run 'til late. Look at www.nationalrail.co.uk for the times and acurate fares.

Trains run regularly (2 or 3 trains per hour) up until about midnight, and take about 15 minutes. A cheap day return (after 9:30am) is £3.40, and a Standard day return is £4.50. Most trains also have first class at £7.60 day return. www.nationalrail.co.uk for more. Services are operated by a combination of Midland Mainline, Virgin Trains and Central Trains, however tickets are valid for any. Note the cheaper ticket must be bought before boarding.

Most buses are run by Stagecoach. The fast bus is the 727, this takes about 30 minutes, however stops running at about 6pm. This runs every half hour. The slow bus is the 43, this takes about an hour, and runs hourly.
