I tried posting this last week but it seems to have disapppeared>
I bought a DVD hard drive recoder/DVD burner to a) replace a dead VHS video machine and b) copy my VHS to DVD before my othe VHS machine dies. I have managed a couple but most all the others says not allowed to put onto my machine - copywrite protected - is there a way to do this or do I have to write off all my bought VHS tapes? :help:
Unfortunately copying even your own bought stuff is still considered to be pirating, so you won't be able to do it.
Best thing you can do is sell all the VHS vids on Ebay or at a second hand shop, and use the proceeds to re-purchase the films or whatever on DVD.
That's what I'd do anyway as I have loads of VHS wrestling videos etc.
try this months computer active mag,,, its all in there,,,,,

You could get a device that plugs into your computer and lets you record straight to your DVD burner. Aldi usually have one in for £20, it's called the Tevion DVD Maker.
Many thanks for the info - I will get the computer active mag and try that for starters.
Cheers,

Having bought the mag, it looks like Rich tea biscuit was right - there appears to be no (legal) way of transfering bought Video to DVD, unless someone out there knows different......................:help:

No sheet, last time I tryed copying a mucky vid to DVD the coppers jumped right outta my PC and got me!
There's plenty of ways to do this - eg get something to convert analogue video footage to DV so you can capture it through firewire and then author to dvd (not expensive, or particularly quick/easy), or just get a macrovision disabler (eg this (http://www.multi-region.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=674) was the first hit I found in google).
(assuming it's the macrovision that's stopping you copying it, but this is the most common problem)
