on friday i jumped onto the bus upto walkley around lunchtime, there were only about 8 passengers on the bus all sat near the front, so i walked to the back of the bus and sat down minding my own business....then a bloke got up from the front of the bus and sat next to me and it became immediately obvious that he had some sort of serious mental health problems as will become clearer!
this chap asked me if i smoked roll ups, so to be polite i said no but i could give him a cigarette if he wanted one, which he duly accepted and we were away........
he told me he was a doctor (possibly, a few years ago maybe) but then things took a worrying twist, he kept pointing at some poor woman that he had been sat near, and telling me that he wanted to "rip her hair out and flush her away" "i know where that bitch works, i'm going to get her" to which i tried to calm him by telling him to ignore the lady in question if she had upset him.
anyways, the woman got of the bus leaving me and my new friend alone at the back of the bus, now he starts to spark up the fag i gave him to which i politely suggest he refrains from doing so as the bus driver is likely to kick us both off the bus, at which point he then turns to me and tell me "dont tell me what to effing do, you dont know me, who do you think you are you effing effer!"
to which i rang the bell and got off the bus rather quickly, wishing to avoid any further confrontation!

now i was a bit intimidated by the bloke, enough so to get off the bus early, but i hope the poor girl that he had been talking about didnt hear him as he was quite graphic in what he was going to do to her, which he probably wasnt, but i imagine would have disturbed her too!

anyone else recently had an experience like this? what should i have done? ignored the bloke??

Its a well known fact that Chavs, oddballs, etc when boarding a bus always head to the back of the bus to travel, best to sit nearer the front if poss not much help I know if the bus is reasonably full.

Maybe report the incident to bus company? Don't they have CCTV's now on buses?

i get crazy people trying to strike up a conversation with me all the time, they usually smell of pee and have bad breath and insist on sitting next to me during long bus or coach journeys :gag:

You get a few who seem to like traveling around on buses and sometimes they will talk to the driver. They appear harmless but this man seems somewhat different.

I once remember someone sitting down next to me at the front of the bus (53) in rush hour, coming out of town - he started chatting, and then he told me he couldn't write and asked if I could write a letter for him.

I can't quite remember, but I'm sure that the letter was something along the lines of "I'm sorry about what I did, I don't want to go back inside so I won't do it again. I'm on the dole now so I'll have your money soon and I'm getting a job." , but with more to it.

He also started smoking, but I did say that it was non smoking and he stopped without a fuss.

I did get off a bit early in the end and get a lift the rest of the way though, cos he started talking about how he'd been inside a few times (not sure what for) and started to seem a bit more intimidating...

was very wierd :P

I think all you can do is try and be as non-threatening as you can. Although people in this state can be quite scary, they're normally more scared (by the things going on in their head) than you are. Keeping calm is generally your best option, and there's nowt wrong with getting off early -it's not always easy to deal with.
