I match perfume to my mood but confess to having over twenty bottles.
Favourites are:
Angel (Thiery Mugler)- this always gets compliments.
White Linen( Estee Lauder) - heavy but lovely if you apply lightly.
Private collection (Estee lauder) ditto
Wrappings (Discontinued Clinque fragrance that you can now only get at Harrods) - smells vile for first top note twenty mins then gorgeous
Elle (Armani) my daytime fragrance
Karma (Lush) a very lushious smell.
Amarito (Body Shop) - lovely chocolately smell
Flowers -(kenzo)I love violets.
Dirt - (Demeter.) Still one of the most unique smells around. you either love or hate.
Tomato (Demeter) DKNY not quite the same.

I'm quite sad with favourite smell on a man. I like a man to smell of licorice or Quorum. (£about £8 a bottle!)

I'm pretty much the same on this... haven't worn some of them for a while. Angel, White Linen and Kenzo Flower are the stay fasts. i'd forgotten about the Barefoot Doctor one as well, used up a few years ago and couldn't replace but just remembering its smell now. Not worn Elle for a while...

Licorice Demeter was added to the mix about two years ago but once I'd used my bottle up, couldn't get any more as it's not imported to the UK:mad: Even contacted Demeter but the cost of importing is more than the perfume so waiting for a mate to go to USA to buy me some.

I read an industry perfume book at my friend's house last year and found that my taste in perfume is fairly "highbrow" and lots of the ones I like/own are considered classics by perfumiers.

It told me about Lolita Lempicka (someone has previously mentioned it on the thread) and i knew i was probably going to like it. Having ordered some of the internet I can tell you, it's a resounding yes.:love: Very potent stuff - not dissimilar to Angel but with less chocolate and more violet and licorice notes. One to be worn sparingly.

Bigging up the new Gorilla perfumes at Lush:love: which I invested in two of today and a sample set. I got Tuca Tuca, which changes so much.. will definitely be a long night perfume to wear and the Smell of Freedom which is quite a complex blend. Tried the others and Imogen Rose is amazing! Can't stop sniffing the area of me that I sprayed it on. The only one I didn't like was Lust as it was soooo in your face. Will have to use that as a blend i think.

I'm doing a smelly tour of the history of scents at the moment, so I have a bottle of Farina Gegenüber's Kölnisch Wasser which was first made in 1714, Jicky by Guerlain which was launched in 1889 and I'm gradually following through the development of Jean Carles (Tabu, Miss Dior, Ma Griffe etc) and Aimé Guerlain and a couple of others as perfumiers.

There's only one problem with this hobby- it's blimmin' expensive!

Lots of people dislike it and think that it smells rather of unwashed bodies, but I have lots of compliments when wearing it and it smells very warm and comforting to me. My nephew and niece really like it and snuggle up to it when I'm wearing it too.

I'm just getting into fragrances at the minute and have quite a budding little collection. My all time favourite is Dior Homme but at the moment I'm loving Gucci by Gucci pour homme. If you're looking for something more affordable, Patrick Dempey Unscripted by Avon is very good too.

back in the 70's Mary Quant had a perfume out called Havoc

it was amazin........it was like the equivelant of human fly spray....men were just drawn to you like flies

My signature scent is Clinique Happy :D Mmmm delish! I like Gucci Rush for the evening (and HATE it when I smell it on people during the day, its just too strong for the day!)

I think that's the same for everyone - your nose acclimatises to the scent after a while, but I thought the whole point was to smell good to other people!?

Yep, it's called anosmia, it affects any smell that your brain considers 'standard' over a long period of time and it's a good reason to wear different perfumes each day and circulate your choices.

There's one perfume which I wore as my signature scent for a few years which I just can't smell any more, even if I actually sniff the bottle. It's a great shame because I really loved the smell when I could smell it and others tell me that it smells great on me, but I wear perfume for myself as well as others, so I don't want to get to that state with other scents that I love.

At the moment I am hooked on Avon's Mesmerize...yes it is a man's fragrance....I don't really do girly smells - but alas just found out Mesmerize has been discontinued :(

I love Lolita Lempicka. I got my OH the male version as well and he smelt yummy, like liquorice. I prefer him in 212 though.

Apart from the Avon Mesmerize I also wear Coty L'Aimant Orchidee at the moment -£3 a bottle...I am so cheap :hihi::hihi:

mines gucci rush, its devine..................and my hubby wears lacoste original, wow i love it.

I wear either Valentino rock and Rose or 212 VIP! My OH wears the original 212 for men!! I do like the smell of Joop but it's ruined by 14 year old having a bath in the stuff!!

Are you sure you're thinking of Tabu? The stuff that most people remember bringing back from Spain is Maja, which was the one with black packaging with a flamenco dancer on the front. Never really rated the perfume for that, but the soaps from the range are lovely quality- hard to get these days though.

I've just bought another bottle of Ma Griffe actually- as with many of my other perfumes I pick up bargains on eBay and similar places, so it's cost me not a lot. It's to go in my gym bag as I've used the last of my scent from there and I like something that's not very concentrated and inoffensive smelling to use after showering at the gym.

It's so long since I last used aftershave or colognes that I can't even remember the names of the brands I liked. ('Splash it on, Enery doesn't count.)

I suppose that's one of the things about growing old.

She used to buy me 'smellies' - now I get socks. :hihi:
