Charles was never booked nor sent off in a distinguished career for Leeds U, Juventus and Wales. I saw him score a hat-trick at Hillsborough in 1957 in a 3-2 win for Leeds and all three goals were scored with his head. He was equally adept at playing centre-forward or centre-half and was nicknamed 'The Gentle Giant'.
