Iv been fine for the past week cutting wheat out but had a curry last night and im all bloated again! Abdul 23-02-2006, 13:50 Onion Bhajis are made with flour, aren't they? (Not sure, I eat them, I don't make them) Hecate 23-02-2006, 13:51 I think flour is used as a thickening agent in some curries, and flour can be used as part of the coating on onion whatsits. bjshooter 23-02-2006, 13:51 I am sure that ther is wheat in onion barjis, but it depends what curry you have, as they are all made differently bestphoto 23-02-2006, 13:52 Haven't got a clue!! michelley 23-02-2006, 13:52 i had a chicken tikka bhuna! theres definately must be wheat in that or the barji's - or both!!! Thanks guys. bestphoto 23-02-2006, 14:04 How do they make the food such outragious colours! Thats what gets me Michelley!!! Iv been fine for the past week cutting wheat out but had a curry last night and im all bloated again! I believe they have Gram Flour in them. Z medusa 23-02-2006, 14:14 If you follow a traditional recipe for onion bhajis there is no wheat flour at all in them- they're made with gram flour, which is ground chick peas. Of course there could be other things added if you make them in bulk..... bestphoto 23-02-2006, 14:23 Ok it was a stupid question! So where's good for indian food? take out or eat in places? spicey 23-02-2006, 14:44 Ok it was a stupid question! So where's good for indian food? take out or eat in places? Make your own. Can confirm they are made with gram flour, seeing as I make them! However, not sure what such wannabe "Indian" food places would add to them..... TeaFan 23-02-2006, 14:52 I believe they have Gram Flour in them. Z Indeed, they should be made with gram flour, which is from chick peas, and so is fine for wheat intolerance. Cheap & nasty curry sauces might be thickened with cornflour, but I don't know if that is a problem. Sometimes chilli and excess oil (another sign of a cheap & nasty curry) will bloat you. I should say I have very high curry standards. I enjoy Nirmals and Mangla (wish I knew what went in their Masala sauce), but haven't found much else to shout about yet in Sheffield. No Hindus, you see, so no South Indian restuarants. Bah! bestphoto 23-02-2006, 14:54 So has anyone got any really good easy recipies for tasty Indian food?? PerlOfWisdom 23-02-2006, 15:55 Haven't got a clue!! Why would anyone make a post saying they don't know? PS. Neither do I. |
