Hi

Can anyone tell me what to type in at the A prompt to format a hard disk running Windows ME. I need to do this in order to reload it again due to the files being destroyed by a virus.

Thanks

I've no experience of WInME but there might be some help here? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/268891/en-us
In particular, scroll down to the list after "After EBD has been created..."

Type in fdisk at the prompt, this will take you to a screen with 4 options regarding the harddrive, you need to select delete partion and reboot. Use fdisk again to create a primary partion and select yes to use all the harddrive, reboot again and type in format c: at the prompt. This will format the drive with the fat 32 file system.
PS you need to make a start-up disk using a floopy this can be done from a windows 98 or ME this disk will contain the fdisk utilitie need to format the harddrive.
