'eyup,
I live in Meersbrook and recently changed my Blueyonder broadband service from 1mb (£25) to 4mb (£35) [and am looking forward to getting the 10mb soon once Telewest finish their upgrade work].

My problem is this: On the 1mb service I was getting a pretty constant download speed of 120 kb/s all the time. Since I've changed to the "4mb" service my download speed jumps up and down like a yo-yo , from as low as 10kb/s, up to 415 kb/s.

Has anyone else experianced this yo-yo effect? Because I certainly wouldnt call it 4mb..

Cheers for any replies.

Possibly a side affect of work going on to do with the upgrade in the area?
Their website says ' Some service disruption may occur between these dates'.

Here's a graph to illustrate the "yo-yo" speed problem.
This graph shows my download speed over 10 minutes!

Im on 2mb and peak around 220,

It seems to be the UPload that causes the drop outs, not the download, thats what I have discovered is the problem with ours...

Its all pants.
too many users on the UBR.
they got what they wanted, more customers but didnt get the upgrade done in time to take them all. had problems myself since begining of december and it still aint right. new modem, 2 new tv boxes and a boat load of techs visits and they still wont admit the prob incase we want refunding :(

check out your download speed with online net speed testers, check out pings and your modem power levels :(
its all going down the pan till they get it upgraded :(

WoW ! you will be happy to know that tonight when I phoned about my connection dropping they said it was due to an upgrade :D and not some flannel like are you sure you have you anti spyware programs upto date :P

lets hope that even tho they may not upgrade our netspeeds as yet, that they are able with the upgrade to at least give us an un interupted connection that we are all paying for ;)

well done blueyonder :) I have all the faith in you again and the 6 customers that I got you in the past can be rest assured too that there kiddies can now stay in the chatrooms and get there pc's poxed up more often and give me more work fixing the things for a pittance as per ussual :P

I'm getting the same over in Manchester, so it's not a local issue.

I plan to wait until the end of March, which is when the Yorkshire upgrade is supposed to be completed by, according to

http://www.blueyonder.co.uk/blueyonder/getContent.jspx?page=bbs_evenfaster

If then the supposed new "10mb" service is still as bad as the current "4mb" elite service then I'll probably downgrade to the new "2mb" service (i.e. what was the old 512k service) as I don't see the point in paying lotsa dosh if the speed isn't high and constant.

But all being well, Telewest will have it sorted by the end on March, won't they?! ;)
