How Do!

Right, basically i was taken into hospital on friday night and had to have an operation.. But ill not go into that.. Hence now ive got 2 weeks of work..

Might sound good to some people, but what this has stopped me doing is the 3 most important things in my life... 1.. Sexual stuff 2.. The Gym.. 3 Going out down town/drinking..

So the question i pose is what is there for me to do...? (im basically house bound till i get better)

*This might seem like a lame question, but im running out of options and getting bored real easy stuck in house, so any people without jobs etc.. Can u help?*

ThankYou..!! :D

I'm right with you there...:(

I have to have an op on Friday which is gonna mean far too much time afterwards spent stuck in my flat on my own unable to face the world due to bandages etc.
It's horrible putting your life on hold and being unable to do all the things you enjoy - my love life has ground to a halt:(

I've been wracking my brains for stuff to do and I've got loads of stuff to watch now as someone has kindly lent me two box sets of 24 which should keep me going for many an hour. I've also been busily accruing eps of stuff on Sky 1 that I've been avoiding watching.

I'm currently working on a healthy ebay addiction which might be good for passing time and what I save on petrol by not travelling to work or going out I can spend on buying things I never knew I wanted and certainly don't need on the net. Online shopping...ah heaven.

I've been stocking up on books as I don't get much chance to read usually and of course there is always the forum and many weird and wonderful games available on t'internet. I can see my post count going through the roof as the things I post get more banal and pointless...

Then of course I can email my mates at work extolling the positives of not being at work, reversing my body clock, listening to music and surfing the net without fear of reprisal from the IT Client dept. and get emails in return moaning about their day and how bored they are in the office thus making me feel tons better:)

I considered cleaning my house but I'd have to be *really* bored to do that and I can't decorate or lay my laminate floor for fear of infection so that's out (damn, and I so love DIY...ha)

Err...think that's as far as I got. Could always take up stamp collecting or alphabetising and cataloguing everything you own but that *is* desperate. I'm planning on getting some quality sleeping time in and seeing if I can exceed my own personal best of 14 hours in one go.

Hi,

First of all, sorry you've had to have an op (I'm not saying sorry you've been ill as it may not be the case ;) )

Secondly, I hope you are soon feeling much better and heal quickly.

Thirdly, PLEASE take it easy. I don't know the meaning of the word and EVERY invasive surgery I've had, the wound has reopened - because I can't take it easy!

Finally - to answer your question, get a good book, something to get your teeth into, or if you're not interested in that, puzzles? sudoku is sweeping the nation, crosswords, or - and here's one! why don't you teach yourself a language?! It's easy enough to do online and you can generally find free help online, you never know by the end of the two weeks, you might really like it and keep it up!

What else?? You see, when I'm off I've always got college work to do so am never really bored (well I am because I don't do the work but we won't go there..)

I just really hope you heal well and are back to your normal self again!

Healing wishes,
Lottie

PC games? Or a story tape - would recommend "His Dark Materials" unabridged version.

Or a good old-fashioned jigsaw? (gets coat)

I'm also chronically unable to take things easy after an op (and I usually end up with wounds reopening too) so I second Lotti's recommendation to take it easy.

When i'm immobile my laptop, a selection of games and puzzles, books, DVDs, jigsaws and newspapers generally get me through.

I'm retired through ill health, and i recognise that while people normally think that not needing to work any more would be great fun, they also assume that they will be well enough to live a normal life and keep busy when they're not working. When I'm well enough to do things I do voluntary work to keep busy.

Hope you're back to normal as soon as possible Ryan.

well, after having my op at the end of march i have been off sick, at first i was climbing the walls, turned into a hermit and got really down as i couldnt even dress and bath myself, my 6 year old daughter was having to help me do things (bless) and i was getting help off a good friend. Ive still got 2 and a half months before i have to return to work, things are looking up though, thanks to my physiotherapist im seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, im back driving so im not confined to the house. Ask friends around as much as possible, get a good book to read. Hope you feel better soon:)

Extend your career aspects, learn a scripting language or basic programming..

something like PHP/ASP/Ajax/Java Script
or even
Visual Basic / C++ / .Net etc...

these are easily learned (past basic level) in 3 weeks if you put your mind to it, and once you have learned the basic stuff, the rest just sort of falls into place...

but oh, i just notices the Original post date.. oh well :)
