Our house is on the market with a estate agent. I wont say which.
This morning someone made a offer, we accepted, as it was first time buyers. we also had a offer on, but not from a first time!
so. excited as it was only on the market less that 2 weeks. we have had quite a few people looking round. a particular couple had been twice. who seemed interested.
This evening I came home from work, there was a letter from estate agents saying a offer from Mrs ? offering ?
we knew nothing about this. luckily it was less that what we accepted now, but I am really peeved off. they didnt tell us. I have spoken to them most of the time and they didnt tell us about this offer. so mad. as now we are selling our house with them. I hope they havent cocked up on anything else.
do you think I should say Ididnt know anything about this!!
not a good start!! ?

Yes I agree name and shame! I've had expereinces with sheffield's estate agents, one large local firm in particular who I feel dont opperate in the most professional manner!

You should take up your grievance with them and perhaps use it to negotiate a discount on the huge fee you'll no doubt be paying them on completion!

When they ring me next I will mention it. and as well. there percentage was more than the other valuation we had done. we tried saying the other estate agents fee was ? % coul they better it. but they wouldnt negotiate/better.
So I am not holding my breath for a discount...........
not pleased with start.!!

Make sure you get the details of the person who's agreed to buy your house and their solicitor's details too, in case the estate agents get p***ed off with you for bringing this up!
It's really frustrating. I can only think about how many people are actually missing out on offers because agents are not passing info on when it suits them. I wonder if your buyer is taking financial advice from them... that's why we lost a house with Blundells recently (they didn't even want to hear our offer, lied to us saying they were going to close bids and did a deal behind our back...). I've already ranted about this in a different thread so I won't go on about it. My policy from now on is to tell the vendors what I'm up to directly and then talking to the agents, in case the estate agents don't pass offers on! In this way if the agent doesn't say anything the vendors will know they're being taken for a ride.

I writing is standard practice for Blundells. I had to push to get them to call our vendor with our offer. WHen pushed they called and it was accepted straight away. It just speeds the whole process up.

When we were selling our house, estate agents came round. they both said you wont have any trouble selling it. they said they will ring people up, who they think will like it. who lost out on one down the road. I dont believe that was the case. We did sell our house just under 2 weeks on it being on the market. We did get a few offers. I was expecting to get loads of people through the door. that wasnt the case. I think they were people going in to the estate agents looking to buy.
I apologise if I am wrong by estate agents.

I would say that you'd be entitled to a huge discount.
Basically under the supply of goods and services act (1987 i think) they are providing a service agreed at the outset for a specified fee. By not providing the specified service to the correct standards, they are in breach of contract.
I would threaten legal action!

I have sorted my solicitor out. dropped the forms in through the door. aftewr getting a earache from the estate agent buying ours.
I have not heard anything from the other estate agent, the one we are buying. not a word. why is that. do tyou think we should ring them to make sure everything is ok??
