I'm going to Wroclaw in Poland soon for a cheap city break but am finding it difficult to find out about the place.
Can anyone recommend a good hotel or a good area to stay or any other useful or interesting information about the place?

We had fun in Wroclaw, but I'm sorry, I can't remember where we stayed, somewhere cheap and nasty, for certain.
All I remember is annoying my travelling companion by making an 'X' with my arms and going "ROW CLAW!" at every oppurtunity :)
In your pocket is the best guide but if you need to know anymore e-mail me as I spent a month there last year and have friends living there still.

You don't wanna go there mate. I went to that damn place, and its bloody freezing. Also the hotel blankets stink and are pretty dusty

It will be cold, but that's Winter for you. I am also very certain that all the sheets in the entire city are dusty. Try the Hostel at Hotel Tumski if you want cheap and reasonable.

Thanks for the replies - Just got back and had a great time.
Stayed at the Hotel Monopol (Orbis) opposite the Opera (about 700m from Rynek) and it wasn't Dusty at all! Cost about £36 per night but was worth it for the location. The beds were bloody uncomfortable and there were no propor cutains but everything else was fine.
If anyone is going there soon I'd recommend taking a hat, gloves and a scarf as I now truly understand the phrase 'Freezing ones b*lls off'.
Cigarettes - £1.40 pack everywhere. Lager - £0.80p to £1.20 per pint for the premium stuff in town. Not many good english speakers but loads of german speakers. Typical meal including starter and drinks worked out at about £25 per person.
25 pounds per person, where te heck did you eat - The Ritz?

We ate on or around the Rynek square. I'm sure we could have found somewhere cheaper if we'd wanted.
I also hear that the drinks are much cheaper if you get out of the toen centre but we were only there for a couple of days.
Even in the square you did really well to pay so much for food. Must just be me trying to live on not so clever Polish wages that has become a tight a??? in my old age.
