The new bridge over the River Don, as part of the new Inner Ring Road, was lifted into place today. I thought you might like to see some pictures!

I don't fancy parking that lorry up - how on earth did they get it there!

It's onthe new ring road at the bottom of corporation street - near Kelham island - nursery street etc

I was down that way earlier today and couldn't believe how well the building work has progressed, is it next year the IRR is due for completion?

Hi MrH, I used to live down there, is that old iron bridge still there or have they knocked it down?

It's still there. I'm not sure if it's listed (it may be the oldest remaining bridge over the river), but it has a HUGE gas main running underneath it - so i think it's staying.

I was told that they are going to refurbish it and turn it into a pedestrian bridge, leaving the traffic on the new dual carriageways?
