View Full Version : Toupees
slimsid2000 01-04-2004, 15:03 What do people think of men who wear toupees. Do you find them humourous? Have you ever seen someone wearing one whilst out and about?
It's not that I'm thinking of getting one. I just thought it would be interesting to hear people's views and experiences.

Please let me save you the money, they are AWFUL
On men, bald is cool, wigs and toupees are not cool

longley owl 01-04-2004, 15:11 Toupees ha, the other week i saw a bloke walking down the road where i live when it was windy, fust as i was about to turn away a gust of wind blew up the road and his toupee lifted. in haste he dropped his bags and held it on with both hands. i cant say what happened next because i had my head in my hands crying of laughter.
im not taking the mick out of the poor guy for his embarrassment but it was hilarious.
Before it blew off it look like a real head of hair, other toupees just look ridiculous.
slimsid2000 01-04-2004, 15:12 Seriously I'm not. I don't need one actually. I was just wondering what people thought of them.
Mosherchik 01-04-2004, 15:17 Example...
Bald man walks down street - no one takes a blind bit of notice
Stick a rug on his head - :wow: point...stare...giggle... "is it?... yep sure it is... it is isnt it?"
FairyNormal 01-04-2004, 21:23 A couple of years ago, I got to know a guy through another site. He was keen to meet me so I arranged a trip to a local club with a friend to meet him. He had described himself as having a lovely head of short dark hair. Oh yes, he did indeed, but what he failed to tell me that it wasn't actually real!
We had an eventful night, with much sniggering from other friends at the sight of his 'hair'.
At the end of the night, he asked me if I had had a good time and was there anything he could do to make it even better? To this I replied "Yes, please take off that awfull wig as it looks dreadful". He looked mortified and began to explain how he had spent hundreds of pounds having it woven into his natural hair and thus, couldn't remove it without specialist help!
Believe me, it looked like a piece of coconut matting that someone had randomly dropped on his head.
The saddest thing is, that he really thought he looked good in it and almost three years later, he still wears it. Hasten to add, the 'relationship' never went any further!
I really do belive that bald is better and I for one find (most) bald men very sexy.
I do on occasions wear a wig myself. I have curly hair and sometimes wear a nice sleek red and black bob wig. It makes me look amazingly different and is nice for a change.
evildrneil 02-04-2004, 11:56 Toupes = bad - except for comedy value of course ;)
While toupees are ridiculous, the one thing that I find more so are combovers...I mean, who do these people think they're fooling?
Has anyone ever looked at one and had to be told that the owner was desperatly trying to hide his hair loss?
If a man had hair that looked like a combover to begin with I firmly believe he'd shave his head rather than walk around making people think he had one!
HoneyGirl 02-04-2004, 14:35 In my opinion men losing their hair should just shave down to a number 2 and be proud of it .... bald men can be cute!!

Hmmm, how come i never meet ladies like you...? Or is it that i'm pig ugly anyway, so bald baldness makes no difference? ;)
But seriously, combovers/toupees seem to me like the wearer is in denial! You should face your problems, and get over it! The way i see it is that there is nothing i can do about it, so what is the point stressing about it?
Andy, 21, and losing masses of hair rapidly.
I once worked with a chap who had 3, all different lengths.
He would wear his medium length one for a few weeks, then change over to his longest one for several weeks and then put his shortest one on so that it looked as if he'd had a haircut. :D

It wasn't Terry Wogan was it? He is reputed to have 5 wigs and alternate them. Cleaver ploy, I just hope nobody notices.

I worked with a man who was young, handsome, and had a lovely head of hair: one night we had to sleep away from home, next morning I was first up and got the shock of my life when he raised his head without his toupee, he was completly bald!!! he looke like a little old man:I was too polite to comment and no one else said anything either.
The best place for a rug is infront of the fire!
Toupees are a great topic of discussion.
Saw a real handsome guy walking to his car. He had thick black hair. He was very handsome, and had a great body. He just left the Market.
He was walking to his car & there were four girls standing nearby.
He had keys in one hand, and a small bag in the other. It was windy that day, and a gust of wind swept past him.....Thats when I realized the guy wore a "toupee"......It folded back like a pan cake.... The guy must have felt the cold air on his scalp.... He dropped the bag & smoothed hi wig back into place......The girls were hysterical......He got into his car quickly & sped away!!!!
The toupee was a good one, well until it flipped back...
I also one time saw a Bodybuilder with a real bad toupee in the gym, so a friend of mine kept making gestures with his hands, pointing to his head, etc....made the guy nuts!!!!

Rusted Root 10-05-2004, 08:36 Aww. I guess it is kinda cruel to laugh at people with wigs. What happens if you have dreadlocks though? Do you have a dread-piece??
Craig7777 01-09-2006, 08:59 Toupee's are bad:(
