Tabitha keeps sitting in the window making a strange clicking sound (trying to call the pigeons i think :confused: )

after 6 cats ive never heard one of them doing it. has anyone else??

:hihi: She's just having a nice conversation with the birds! My cat Scooby does this a lot, it's adorable!

Its their hunting noise :)

it was really strange to hear her doing it, never heard a cat do it before.

My Bengle and Moggie both do this so did my previous Moggies, the Bengle more as she is more vocal and has a wider range of clicks. We always joke that shes an accent short of an evil laugh!! It's so adorable and she's be completely useless at hunting, as she tells them what she's gonna do, D'oh! Although to date she has captured a coat hanger and an allen key, which she was extremely proud of herself for...:hihi: xx

Ah yes, that's a pretty standard hunting noise, like they want to miaow but they know that they can't because it would scare off whatever they're hunting.

My old girl Merlin used to sit in the front window and sounded like she was quacking whenever there was something she wanted to chase outside, but I think that was more like the very first start of a miaow repeatedly.

To quote the fabulous book 'The Name of the Cat' by Barbara Holland (if you've never read this book, I heartily recommend it, but if you're likely to sob when reading about death avoid that chapter cos it took me hours to stop snivelling):

'Merlin believed that the way to get to a cloud of gnats hovering the other side of the window was to swim violently against the glass with her front legs whilst chattering at the flies at high speed, and she had believed this her whole life, despite 14 years' overwhelming evidence to the contrary.'

midgecat would always do it when she saw something that excited her - usually birds or squirrels just outside the window.

Mine used to do this when he was talking to the birds :hihi: They sound so funny dont they ....

my cat does this glad nowt wrong with him xx

she dose it louder when outside (not that shes supposed to go out side :hihi: )

Pagan does the chatter thing at sight of birds..flies...wasps...anything he has intent on catching ...the tail lashes that follow usually tell of his annoyance when he hasn't managed to get to them !!....Then i hear all about it like its my fault haha crazy lil creatures !!
