Pheidippides 24-02-2006, 11:12 Hi Lolabel, try Genes Reunited,(internet)or download family tree 2005 from a shareware.both are good.Pheidippides lulu77 05-04-2007, 19:39 for family tree info, you can beat Ancestry.co.uk - its great, also the birth, marriage and death indexes are free to search ! Ive got loads of tree info from there, you can also search different countries and everywhere in uk good luck:thumbsup: hennypenny 05-04-2007, 19:52 This is what I do for a living :) If you don't have time to do your own thoroughly, or if you have hit a brick wall, get in touch - very reasonable rates :) PopT 07-04-2007, 08:37 lolabell After starting your family search and you want to use a good family tree programme, take a look at the Brothers Keeper Family Tree Programme. There is a free version to download. I had never heard of it until I was shown it here in New Zealand and I have found it to be very good. I have tried three other programmes before this one and found different faults with each of them but this one is good. Hope this info helps you or anyone else who takes a look at it. Happy Days! Rivelin6 07-04-2007, 18:53 Hi lolabell, If your family is Sheffield based Sheffield and District Family History Society Website is a good place to ask questions also Sheffield Indexers and Sheffield Records online but Ancestry.co.uk is good for National records as well as Family History Online and findmy past.com. Family Relatives and Genealogist Society. Hope that's enough to be going on with !!! Lois TheRedWizard 07-04-2007, 19:20 Hi Lolobell, Check out local libraries for beginners' lessons. I've just started teaching a course for a dozen people who have never done family history before and they're very excited about it, as I'm sure you are. Good luck! Red pauly1664 08-04-2007, 20:07 i can recomend henny penny.....very reasonable rates and very nice people to boot...must be they put up with me hennypenny 08-04-2007, 21:58 Why thank you Pauly - it was a pleasure :) Always nice to hear from a satisfied customer :) Roux 13-04-2007, 14:55 There's the LDS online IGI (http://www.familysearch.org) and Cyndi's List (http://www.cyndislist.com) is really helpful too. Good Luck! :) hennypenny 13-04-2007, 16:05 Why not post your questions here and see if anyone can help. A lot of us on here have access to censuses etc, and can do look ups for you - I am certainly willing to do free look ups from time to time :) |
