just seen one of the Real Madrid players take a sneaky swipe at an Arsenal player (Ebuay/Abou or whatever his name is). The hand swept across Ebuay's chest.
Ebuay then looked around, grabbed a hold of his mouth and went down like Mike Tyson had landed one on him.

I hate to see players deliberately try to get others sent off, especially by blatantly lying about where any contact has been
It's up to the football authorities to stamp it out. A 3 match ban would soon stop dirty players from doing it.

Nice one arsenal 1-0.
Will have to watch the highlights later.

Was it a good game?

I dont like it as well- but the authorities cant seemed to be arsed to do anything about it though.. same as the racism in football it appears.

The game was quite good actually. Arsenal deserved the win. They battled for every ball and were generally more hungry for the win.
Ronaldo didn't impress at all :?

Not an Arsenal fan by any means but it was nice to see them win tonight. Continuing the theme in this thread though, I was surprised that Reyes didn't get booked when he rolled back onto the pitch after being left injured quite obviously off the pitch. The Real players understandably reacted quite strongly although while their keeper deserved the booking he got after running half the length of the pitch to remonstrate, why didn't the linesman (sorry - referee's assistant  ) draw the incident to the referee's attention? Another example of letting the primadonnas get away with it!

Good result for Arsenal but back to Sportsmanship. Agree but how far woudl you take this. What about a player who appeals for a throw in knowing well that he had the last touch??

There's many issues with football and generally 90% of spectators blame the ref!

I saw the Chelsea pitch on last night's news and am not surprised that Barcelona are unhappy about it. I think there ought be some Eufa intervention on watering an already saturated pitch. I'm inclined to share their view that it is yet another form of Chelsea gamesmanship. I don't know what it is about this club - there are many tremendous players at the club - why do they always need to seek an 'edge' on opponents? Needless to say, I shall be wanting Barcelona to win because I like fair play.

I was only referring to when players tell/act blatant lies to try and get other players sent off :)
I know there are lots of other things that need sorting out within the great game but this really does disgust me

RE: Chelsea pitch....
It's looking terrible isn't it :? They've just gone there live on Sky Sports and they have huge water hoses blasting away right now. The players are going to need flippers at this rate :suspect:

A further tale about gamesmanship which I find pathetic because if one team does this, what can they expect when they go away?
Last year, just before Sturrock left Southampton, we were given a guided tour of St.Mary's as part of a proposed university course my daughter was considering. The Saints' changing room was massive with an extended warming up area which Beattie had done his best to damage. We were then alerted to the 'mind games' when it came to the visitors' changing room.
A pokey little room with one rickety treatment table. A 'Welcome to Southampton' sign plastered on the wall, and taped Saints/haloes stuck on the back of the dressing room door. Behind all the WC doors were full length mirrors!
On cold nights, the heating in the visitors is turned up full-blast. Meanwhile, when Saints come out, they are given a Jaffa cake and a jelly-baby.
Apparently, Ferguson is so annoyed by it all that he took sheets to cover up all this wind-up material. I've lived in Southampton whilst playing cricket and wanted them to stay up but I think this is utter childish. It isn't doing much good so if I was in the management team, I'd concentrate on more serious matters. I don't think for one minute Paul Sturrock was behind this nonsense but he would be in a position to confirm my account.

Another perfect example! Messi went down from a very clumsy challenge from del Horno, looked for the ref, saw the ref was looking and started rolling around as though he had been shot
Del Horno is now in the changing room for what i think was a yellow card at the most :?

Ohh.... And Joe Cole's game is ruined as well because he's been subbed as a direct result of Del Horno's sending off

Agree again. YC at best for clumsiness. It wasn't Serious Foul Play or Violent Conduct IMO. But i had to smile as even Del Horno had a roll around the pitch.
