Hello Benq17, do you mean Far Lane? Hillsborough has a large shopping centre, with several supermarkets, Boots, Woolies, independent butchers, bakers etc. It has great transport links to Sheffield Centre (tram and buses), a library and a park that is currently being improved. I moved here last year, and have found everything I need in the area. The only downsides are the lack of parking, and the pubs in the centre over the weekends. I've found a good GP surgery, got registered no problems, also a vet. Can't comment about schools as my kids are grown up. I believe there is also quite a demand for council houses in the area.
There are a lot worse areas in Sheffield you could choose!
thanks for the info,we are going to see a house on far lane on saturday.what is it like at night,we are used to living in a quiet estate(no shops or pubs around).i need to find a local playgroup for my 3 year old...any nearby?
Hillsboroughs great benq17, I agree totally with Macbeth.
If the actual house is OK when you go and see it, I'd accept - no quibbles!

hey i live on one of the roads running off far lane, and ive lived hear for 20 yrs and love it,5 min walk into hillsborough centre and you can find most of what you want there but if not jump on a tram that takes you straight to the town centre,if you do decide to take it im sure you will be happy there.
ahhh that would be Fart Lane, as the sign was ammended years ago, always made me laugh!
Hillsborough has a lot of facilities for kids (nice big park!) - there's quite a few playgrops, nurseries etc. Far Lane area is fairly quiet at night - it's far enough from the main part of Hillsborough not to get to much pub noise. There is a pub (Beehive) at the top of Far Lane, but it's more of a "local" I think.
