Which is strange because I still use creosote.
I heard it was a contributer to Cancer so they banned it.
I have noticed it has changed its formular, but it still stinks as strong as it always has and just as potent.

should now creosote substitute just like turps.
although i wouldn't be surprised if poundland doesn't flood the market with some eastern european "creosote" this summer.

Mmm I miss the smell of creosote. Always reminds me of spring walking to school when I was a kid past everyone's newly painted fences.

I did think it was banned years ago though. I thought that was because it burned everything it came into contact with but it has been linked to skin cancer and cancer of the scrotum:o

An indication of how sad I am is this link - fascinating facts about creosote and coal tar...didn't they used to make soap out of coal tar??http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/tfacts85.html

They replaced it with that Fence Care stuff that wasn't nearly as dark and didn't smell as nice, although I think my mum was pleased it didn't kill off all her plants!

So I saw on Wierd Nature Hedgehogs lick the stuff off your fence, it foams in their little mouths, they then lick it on their spines and hey presto - insect repellant and cull!! They'll be gutted!!

creosote has been banned to the general public for many yrs in Canada due to its toxic nature, however it can still be obtained for industry (telephone poles) and for farming if you know where to look.
