I was hoping that someone maybe able to help-

I need an MOT for a 2003 CBR600, trouble is I have fitted an Akrapovic race can, wondered if I need to refit the original or just take it with me to the garage to let them see I have the original.

The biggest problem I have though is that the bike needs its 16K service; CMC garage has quoted £350 for this (something to do with checking valve clearances). On top of this I think I’m going to need new brakes ++ etc-I’m not exactly well off and wondered if anyone could recommend a decent affordable motorcycle garage around Sheffield!

Any help would be appreciated!!

Try Shiregreen service station 2401100.

My b/f has used them before and they're pretty reasonable

I think it's unlikely to pass with a race can fitted due to noise emissions. Swapping the can over is easy enough, providing the headers are the originals.

Give it a quick service yourself - just oil & filter and plugs. The valve clearances can probably wait a while, and are not involved in an MOT provided they aren't so far out of whack that it effects gas emissions. If the valve system uses shims under buckets then it's a pig of a job to do, and usually involves removing the cams. If so, then £350.00 seems reasonable.
