I am a student at the University of Sheffield and I am trying to find out how language differs from person to person. Since I need to collect data from more than seventy speakers, I am looking for volunteers who would like to participate in my project (age 11-39). If you and your family were born and live in South Yorkshire and British English is your native and primary language you are the person I am looking for.
If you volunteer, I will ask you to take part in one tape-recorded interview. It would be a conversation between you and me, during which I will be ask a few questions designed to find out how people use certain words. The interview would last 20- 30 minutes.
When I complete this project, the results will greatly contribute to our understanding of social aspects of language used in South Yorkshire.
If you would like to take part in this research or if you know about anybody who could be interested in helping me with this project please leave your phone number or e-mail at the bottom of this sheet and I will contact you soon.
Please remember that all the information collected will be kept confidential. This research has ethical approval and the broadcast letter is approved by the research supervisor.
Looking forward to hearing from you :)
