Greybeard 21-02-2006, 10:09 We had a good covering first thing this morning, but it's all gone now. A couple of snow showers in the last hour or so but it just melted on contact. Bella06 21-02-2006, 10:22 Snowing here Norton Lees but too wet to settle d71146 21-02-2006, 10:22 Its snowing here in hillsborough, anyone got any yet? Oh dear Sheffield will soon be gridlocked. matt1889 21-02-2006, 10:23 The sky is getting heavier by the minute, but I don't think the showers will be sufficient enough to cause any hassle??? Matt merlin_7799 21-02-2006, 10:25 No snow as yet - hail though in and around heeley/ walkley with a bit of luck we can all go home early on account of it - cross your fingers!! :) bigflesh 21-02-2006, 10:26 sorry to be the voice of doom, but - i shouldnt get too excited. this is not set to last what with feb temperatures on the up as we head towards spring. central europe has seen an increase in its temperatures over the past few weeks and therefore the "cooling" effect on us will not amount to much. my honest opinion, a flash in the pan. bring on spring! as you can see... its not sticking at higher levels and the precipitation is a mix of slush and snow, its hardly prolonged - more showery and now the sun shines again. medusa 21-02-2006, 11:18 I had the lovely task of getting my car out of snow last night- big sis lives high up in the Pennines, and they had several inches of snow fall at teatime, but it was only sticking at the very highest altitude, and even theirs melted this morning when it started to rain. alchresearch 21-02-2006, 11:41 You could try Fords of Winsford, they generally get good reviews. goldenfleece 21-02-2006, 11:44 snow? where? are you mad? The moors up behind Bradfield are still white-over. exmrbd 22-02-2006, 10:59 I was standing on Dore Station this morning at 0815am in a blizzard, due to one flake of snow on the line in the Hope Valley area the train was 8 mins late. jesseeee 22-02-2006, 11:07 Sprinkled here this morning :D but still it feels colder than ever outside today! Andy C 22-02-2006, 11:30 I was standing on Dore Station this morning at 0815am in a blizzard, due to one flake of snow on the line in the Hope Valley area the train was 8 mins late. Snow had nothing to do with the delay - the 0821 Dore to Sheffield was delayed 7 minutes at Chinley Junction to allow a late running Transpennine Express to get in front of it, which had been delayed by a signalling problem at Manchester Airport. Trains can generally still be relied to get you there when it snows, and normally keep running after the roads are knackered. exmrbd 22-02-2006, 13:12 Snow had nothing to do with the delay - the 0821 Dore to Sheffield was delayed 7 minutes at Chinley Junction to allow a late running Transpennine Express to get in front of it, which had been delayed by a signalling problem at Manchester Airport. Were you stood on Dore Station this morning? bestphoto 22-02-2006, 13:17 Why does it always snow at random times in this country! Why dont we ever get proper snow anymore! How come the whole country goes into chaos at the sign of the first snow flake? Trekker 22-02-2006, 13:28 it snowed in lower Wincobank but then turned 2 rain. Andy C 22-02-2006, 13:36 Was snowing lightly on and off this morning when I walked down from Bradway to Dore station at 7:45am. Here in Derby where I work it has been raining! SgtDave 22-02-2006, 13:58 It was snowing in Surrey yesterday bigflesh 22-02-2006, 16:10 Chances of snow have risen in my opinion as a front moves in overnight from Scandanavia and the North Sea and hits our cooler "stagnant" air. Prediction is heavy snow on its leading edge with our region seeing accumulations (especially at higher levels) of up to 1 to 2 cm's. Expected to turn to rain as Thursday morning progresses. Looking great for the North and East/Midlands from 6am onwards. Just a prediction - could be wrong, but great for injecting a little excitement onto the board! Better dust off me wellingtons! exmrbd 23-02-2006, 08:01 Snowing Again on Dore Station, only 1 heater working on 142 Railbus, it was like a load of snowmen and women getting of the train when we arrived at Sheffield Midland jesseeee 23-02-2006, 08:09 Snowing in Penistone and my dads gone to work in Stocksbridge and gone on the BIKE??? as in a pedally one not a motorised one! Right, just as I thought but I didn't want anyone in Sheffield to think that they were the only ones being targeted by the dreaded white stuff. Besides, there could have been SOMEONE driving down this way in the following couple of hours that might have been glad of a clue as to what they could expect. Never mind, suns out today in a blue sky. |
