I have found this information regarding the incident for you, It is taken from the Sheffield Star website, my thoughts are with everybody who knew the lad........This is a terrible tragedy!

Murder probe as boy dies-

A MURDER investigation was launched today after a 15-year-old schoolboy died following a disturbance in a Sheffield house.

The youngster was rushed to hospital by paramedics but was unable to be saved and was later pronounced dead.
Police were called to an altercation at a house on Cowley Gardens, Westfield, shortly after 10pm yesterday, where they discovered the teenager with a number of injuries.
An ambulance crew raced the youngster to Sheffield Children's Hospital while police began investigations at the scene to try to piece together exactly what had happened.
A man, who is aged 31 and is understood to be a relative, was arrested in connection with the incident and was still in police custody this morning awaiting further questioning.
Residents today named the dead boy as James Wiles.
Neighbour Lisa White, 37, said the family had lived in Cowley Gardens for more than 10 years.
She said: "His mother Marlene will be absolutely devastated. She lived here with James full time. Her other son Carl came backwards and forwards.
"I'm just in utter shock. I didn't see anything because my living room is on the back. No-one can believe it. My heart goes out to Marlene."
One elderly resident added: "I was knocked up at 3am by police asking if I heard anything. I remember hearing some arguing last night but couldn't tell whether it was outside or in the house.
"James knocked about with a gang of lads. There were often people around here."
Today a group of teenage girls sobbed uncontrollably and hugged each other outside the house as news of the tragedy broke.
One neighbour added: "Everyone is very upset, devastated. I've known the lad all his life and he was a very nice kid."
A Westfield community leader, who asked not to be named, said: "Everybody has been ringing each other this morning and were devastated when they found out who it was. One youth worker was nearly hysterical when she heard the news, this has devastated everyone
The house was still sealed off this morning and under police guard while scenes of crime officers examined the property.
A Police spokesman said the dead boy's relatives were in the process of being told about the tragedy and formal identification of his body was being arranged.
A post mortem examination was also expected to be carried out today to establish a cause of death.
The Moss Way CID spokesman said: "We are investigating the death of a 15-year-old boy following an altercation at an address in Westfield. We attended a disturbance shortly after 10pm and found a boy with injuries. He was taken to the Children's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
"One man has been detained in custody in connection with this."
Detectives working on the case, headed by Det Supt Bob Yates, were due to meet today to discuss their findings so far and to plan the next stages of their investigation.

Scarey stuff. My partner says Cowley Gardens is near the shops in Westfield and there have been violent incidents up there before.

How horrible, I feel so sorry for the family.

Tragic story and i was stunned that a 31 y/o had been arrested especially seeing it was a relative!! Westfield is located in Sheffield 20 near Crystal Peaks. The areas in S20 (Halfway, Mosborough, Sothall, owlthorpe etc) are very nice and peaceful in general but Westfield is stuck in the middle oif them all and does have a bad reputation. If a house is burgled in S20 you always hear 'They've come off Westfield etc)

I live about 5mins walk from the road ,To say "Westfield is a very rough area" would be like saying that the whole of ecclesfiled rd is full of students I live on a very nice quiet rd with no trouble what so ever & as stated live only 5 mins away so please kwtcl1 DONT cast a very large estate down because of one lge profile incedent.
I have it on very good source that there will be more to imerge as to why this boy died very soon,. As already stated this is a close topic to home so will not say any more other that to offer my condolences to his family

Condolences to the family.

I never thought Westfield was that bad. I had friends living there in the private housing and never saw any trouble when visiting, but I admit this was a while ago. I also did some supply teaching at the primary school, and I have definitely been to worse schools. Don't give it a bad name if it doesnt deserve it. We have too many areas like that in Sheffield, and it doesnt solve any problems.

kwtcl1 I Live on the estate its a Lge estate & as stated live less than 5 mins walk from the scene & I must say I live on one of the best rds in this area. ALL Areas in sheffield have their problem zones including the more affluent zones so PLEASE dont drag a lge estate down because of a small minority of pepole. Are you prepared to state that your own estate is totaly trouble free

Quite rightly so, there are nices areas in Westfield. Its part of the area that I cover for work. I have just supervised the removal of the items in the house this morning and it was not a pretty sight. Still its a terrible tragedy.

The area seems to be getting a bit of a reputation for "Killings / Murders". Isn't this the third over the past few years?

I think it is the third in fourteen years in the Westfield area. Still three to many,
I think the other two happened around the shopping area after the pub closed for the night. The first one I heard of was in 1992 out side the pub.
The second was in 2002 out side the chippy.
Westfield is no worse than any other part of the city. These things can happen anywhere.
The South East of Sheffield has one of the lowest crime rates in the county.

My condolences to the family.

This is a tragic event. It has nothing to do with the area and it's no reflection at all on the people that live there.

The boys brother has been arrested for the killing with a stab wound to the chest.

It's a family affair. :(

There was a recent murder just up the road from my house. The local Police Inspector told me that murders can happen anywhere in the city, for any reason, and you cannot claim that they will only occur in allegedly 'rough' areas.

The murder of this young boy is a tragedy for the family concerned, compounded by the arrest of an older brother. Our thoughts must be with the mother and other close relatives at this awful time.

Yes - having born the brunt of a much-smaller-sized altercation, I can imagine the unfortunancies that the family are going through.

Just reading about a second incident in the same street a couple of nights before... Co-incidental ????

BBC News Item (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/4740898.stm)

Now tell me that Westfield isn't a rough place... I lived in the next estate, Waterthorpe as a school kid in the early 80's non of my friends dared venture over there then, so I dread to think how it is now... I suspect some of the fringe areas - mostly the private estates on the edge of Westfield are ok, but the central area near the shops and flats has always been a rough place...
