View Full Version : Need to mend my sleeping bag's zip William Legon 20-02-2006, 19:40 anyone know where I could get my sleeping bag fixed? I'm planning on heading out to the sticks next week and I think I may need it. Cheers, Will wendygs 20-02-2006, 20:00 Dressmaker or anyone with a sewing machine :) Yellowrose 20-02-2006, 21:17 I threw two away with knackered zips, as I thought the hassle of buying a zip long enough, unpicking the old one and inserting the new one was too much versus the price of a sleeping bag in the sales! Unless its a very special top brand bag I would just get another. William Legon 20-02-2006, 21:33 It's a four season down filled bag - and it's been with me all round the world - I must say I'm not keen to see it go to waste just yet! Come on - I need an answer. Yellowrose 20-02-2006, 21:35 There are places, usually in dry cleaners, that advertise a zip replacement service for clothing. Maybe they would be willing to take on a sleeping bag? You would probably have to find a zip long enough though. I haven t seen them that size anywhere. SV500 20-02-2006, 22:17 remove zip and use a long strip of velcro :P seriously, i started reading this and thoaght "buy a new one" but 4 seasons are worth repairing, i know that, i know a seamstres (sp?) but she's always quite busy,i can always ask to see what she thinks, also check out upholstery shops like "the fabric wharehouse" (i think thats its name) down hilsbrough,or there was always one on london road i used a while back, good luck, JJ.. Krad 21-02-2006, 06:29 forget the above I use Scottish Mountain Gear Limited. They have just done my bag for under £20. I don't know how much a full zip is but i was happy to pay that amount for a professional job. also with it been down i bet it has a Pertex outer and they have very very hard to sow with out ripping. oh the above price included P&P:thumbsup: clicky (http://www.scottishmountaingear.com/contact-us.asp) Dear_Ladies 21-02-2006, 16:42 Not a Rab, is it? They still do repairs in Sheffield, but only on their own stuff. William Legon 21-02-2006, 16:50 cheers all - I'll try Scottish Mountain Gear I think. Will |
