Don't know if anyone can help me but I have printer problems :(

I keep trying to print documents, both off word and the internet and it's not working.

Ocasionally my printer will print the top line of a document but then not the rest. It goes through the printing process as if it is working but mainly comes out blank.

Does anyone have any ideas what may be wrong :confused:

Does it only print black or certain colours.

Are the cartridges empty.

Do the jets need cleaning.

I definately think its the ink cartridge, and I also think you might be having us on.;)

I's baffled me totally as was working just fine the other week, the cartridge is about 3 quarters full and as I said has been working fine.

It is a colour printer but the colour cartridge is empty, this has had no effect before on printing word documents.

Try taking the cartridge out and putting it back in again, the printer equivalant of turning it on and off. And beyond that I have no clue way out of my technical abilities:confused:

Buy a laser printer, they're much easier and cheaper to operate.

is it saying there is a paper error please load paper correctly, have you tried canceling the printing as there might be something wrong in the queue the only other solution I can offer is to get intouch with the printer company ie like epson and see if they can sort it out, either ring them or send them an email explaining whats happening to your printer.

Check your printer preferences. Even if you are only printing black and white documents it will use ink from the colour cartridges if you have your settings set to 'colour'. Try changing it to 'black and white' and see if that makes a difference.

ive found printers to be a right pain in the arse.........about the only thing you cant really repair pc wise.

weve gone through about 6 in the past 3 years and most no idea why they stopped working.
cleaned the jets etc, tried full carts, old carts, new carts, official carts, compatible carts.....one worked the first couple of times with a new cart and then didnt.
this laserjets just packed up, started acting silly so gonna bin it, already scrounged anouther ink jet off a friend, just need to buy a cart for it.....(fingers crossed)

all i can say is......clean the jets with some crappy paper, use the cleaning/and other tools in the software.....try rebooting the pc and unplugging the printer when you get a prob, sometimes it remebers stuff and gets confused

Thanks everyone for all your tips! I've managed to get it to print off word fine now! It doesn't seem to print anything else but at least I'm on the way to sorting it.

Simonj - I think I need to try that as I have a feeling you may be right.
