Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me? My mum has a cream leather Suite and recently my nephew got an ink pen and had a little session of writing on it. I was was wondering if anyone had any ideas of getting off!

Might be worth carefully doing a localised test with methylated spirit but taking care it just doesn't smear it over a larger area.
It would be best treated afterwards with some sort of leather restorer type cream to prevent it from getting dried out after the spirit treatment
Also: buy a pair of handcuffs for your nephew!

Try a bit of Jif or that stuff that you can get to clean hobs, it's non ebrasive.

I have a cream leather suite myself - whatever you DO NOT USE METHS OR THE CREAM CLEANSER (apologies for shouting but this is Very bad advice) - Meths will turn it purple as it takes in the colouring that is put in it and the alcohol that it contains will dry out the leather and make it crack. Whilst the cream cleanser manufacturer claims it is not abrasive it contain little granules that scratch the surface. I have had this problem in the past although not deliberate drawing just the odd mark from biro pens etc. I would recommend that she use warm water with washing up liquid in it and a sponge, concentrate on the area with the marks gradually it will lift and come off but it will take some time, I suggest a throw to cover it in the meantime. Also a I would recommend a leather cleaning mousse that I bought from Morrisons (sorry I can't remember the brand name, but can look if you want to know pm me and I'll have look). The manufacturers of my suite recommend that you do not use any chemicals on the surface of the leather at all, just mild detergents and elbow grease.

I'll second that motion! DON'T use chemical cleaners!! I use these special 'leather wipes' from TJ Hughes and a mousse from a leather shop... bit of elbow grease'll have most stains off... Also worth checking classic car places for "leather restorer" if it looks permenant - my dad got his 1940 car seats to look like new with that stuff!!

Hope this helps!

We've tried so far, warm water with washing up liquid but that hasnt worked. And she's tried some other stuff but i will let her know about all the other things recommended here. Some said Alcohol brings it is this true? Thanks.

I wouldn't use alcohol, although it cleans inks it will damage the leather - makes sense if you think of leather as skin (I know it sounds rough!!) - but try not to dehydrate it, or scrub *too* hard... If it starts looking dried out, use moisturiser (seriously) to bring back the suppleness!! Erm... that's all I know i think!!
