Don't know if this is the right place for this but.....I'm looking for a venue for a wedding evening do (drinks, disco, provide our own grub ) usual sort of thing, but it's in May and so a bit short notice. Approximate numbers 130. Any tips, hints, suggestions will be gratefully received. Somewhere in Sheffield would be preferred.
Thanks in advance.

Hi

The Springwood Pub has a function room capable of holding upto 250 people, has a dance floor, upper and lower tear seating, decorated well and is free to hire.

Good ales (drinks offers etc) friendly and if your having a wedding reception, maybe able to decorate with proffessional balloon decor (really looks effective!)

I don't have any pictures but their number is 0114 2645427 and ask for Janet. You can do your own buffet, Karaoke etc or we can get them in for you!

I promise you won't be dissapointed.

Regards

Swiller.

Well, when my cousin had her wedding, she looked into all sorts of places. The ones I recall her mentioning were Sheff Utd football ground and Marriot Hotel near Psalter Lane.

A football ground is not your conventional place, but was recommended to her. There are ample of parking spaces. Big function rooms. I think with anything, you need to negotiate with the venues to see whether you can work something together.

Advice ? Be persistent, and try to get all the info you need before deciding on a location. Reason ? Because you only have a limited time span to work with. If necessary, try and be flexible, and find if you can do catering and hire DJ separately to reduce costs if it works out cheaper than the venues' prices.

Hilton Hotel

MacDonald St pauls Hotel

Sheffield Park Hotel

Sheffield Marriott

I have held conferences and been to parties/events at all of these venues and found their service and facilities 2nd to none. Also, try "playing one off against the other" for a decent rate. Its a buyers market imo and I have managed to knock off a couple of hundred £'s by thinking smart. A free bottle of wine per table would be a bonus?

I recommend the Jubilee Room at Crookes WMC. It's nominal in charge and there is a small bar inside the room where you can provide your own food and have your own disco. Used this for my wife's 50th. Check if it's available on 2660114. The club is at the top of Mulehouse Road.
