I went to a brilliant night of professional boxing last night. Thanks to Glyn Rhodes Promotins.Four great bouts from the Hillsborough based gym. First off was Lee Edwards know as ''Brown Sugar'' who stayed in control from start to finish before knocking his opponent down in the sixth then stopping his opponent, in the same round.
Next up was Dwane ''The Hurricane'' Hill. He put in a great performance against the vastly more experienced fighter to come out a convincing winner.
This was followed up by the come back kid Reagan Denton who again put in a solid performance to come out on top.
Top of the bill John ''The fire Ball'' Fewkes was fighting for The Central Area Light Welter Weight Title, against the Holder Tony Montana of the Brendan Ingle Gym.This was the second meeting of the two where Fewkes came out top back in Oct 05.After Montana took the fight at short notice. This time Montana had more time to prepare.which would on paper provide a much sterner challenge for Fewkes over ten rounds, uncharted territory for Fewkes.
After a quiet first round John Fewkes took command of the fight, out punching out muscling and out thinking Montana in every department. Pushed on by a massive partisan crowd.Fewkes pressed on despite a bad gash above his right eye to come out a convincing winner and new central Area champ Great night
