Hi all,
I'm in my 1st year of social work studies at sheffield hallam uni and was wondering if theres any qualified social workers out there willing to give me a little guidence and support. I need a 'mentor' to be able to ask questions and iron out any queries, Im not looking for anyone to do my work for me, just someone to turn too when I'm really stuck!

Don'r expect much help from the socials, right bunch of useless jobsworths that lot..

You ring up to talk to them they're never there, you leave a message asking them to ring you back, they never do... And to top it off my former social worker, a bloke who strangely shares my name Richard Allen, has upped sticks and left, and I now don't have a named social worker!

Not wishing to discourage you though, good luck with your course, you might be just what social services needs in Sheffield!

Hi jwethers,
Feel free to pm me regarding any SW issue's you may have.
The response you got from Rich is fairly typical and understandable when you hear of some people's personal situations.
In all I have worked in SW for years within which budgets are cut and we have more cases allocated than before.
This creates an environment for stress for everyone mostly those who should righltly recieve services and support.
Anyway I love it and find it rewarding otherwise I would'nt do it.
Keep at it and hear from you soon.
