OMG!

Have just watched Alan Smith laid out on the anfield pitch white as a sheet.
I hope there is nothing majorly wrong with him.

It looks like a leg injury to me - and it looks bad.

Hopefully the news wont be too bad- fingers crossed.

I think the Liverpool players deserve a mention as do the Club Docs and Physio's who raced on the pitch.

Very true

Big pat on the back for the whole liverpool outfit for helping out smithy on the field- well done lads.

It looks a bad one whatever he has done- I'm guessing at a dislocation I reckon.

A broken leg AND a dislocated ankle...OUCH!!
My thoughts and I know many other fellow LFC fans are with Alan Smith tonight.

Don't think there's any chance of that

Yeeeeoooooooooouuuccchhhhh! That's gotta hurt. And I really don't like watching bones breaking in slow motion :gag: I thought it was a tongue-swallowing thing when I saw the players freaking out, till he moved and they showed the replay and then they were trying to keep his head still so he couldn't see his foot at a 90 degree angle to his leg :o

I did not watch, I guessed by Ronaldo's reaction and the others around Smith moving his line of sight away from his leg, that it was pretty horrendous. I am sure he will recover, and wish him the best of luck.

That looks like an injury that could end a career. I hope not as smith is a player I like

Career threatening I think thats a cert.....if not, at least 2 years out and might never be the same player again....brings back memories of David Busst, Coventry.

It shows what a risky game proffessional football can be. What caused it was just charging down a free kick for God's sake!

Professional or not, Ive been playing sundays and seen a guys's knee come out when he challenged for a header.....

you could tell something was seriously wrong when he was sat up and just reached out for something to grab hold of.

although ive never been a fan of smithy, i hope it doesnt end his career

As much as I dislike Smith, I would not wish that injury on anyone, poor bloke. :(

When I first saw it, I thought he was just being a wuss, because it looked like he juat had the ball blasted at him, but then on closer inspection I saw what actually happened. I wouldnt wish that on anyone. Very harsh :(

i didnt realise it was that bad, i heard just a dislocation, not a 90 degree open fracture break, that sound painful!!! i just hope its nothing like HENRIK Larsons injury in the old celtic days.

A pretty bad injury but not the worst I've seen.

A friend of mine broke 3 or 4 bones in her leg in an a showjumping fall and ended up with part of her leg sticking through her riding boot.

Hope that Smithy makes a full recovery and is back playing in the latter part of next season :)

More the way his broke. It just broke (not under tackle or ball hitting it I think). Very scary. Would never have gone back to game if that was me.
