Can anyone help me? Im looking for old photos of Birley Pit which used to be on Stone Lane, Woodhouse. It was knocked down in the early seventies, the place I spent most of my time as a kid! There used to be a firm called Seddon And Brammall nearby,they made transformers for the railway, did any of you or you family work there?

Any memories from Hackenthorpe would also be interesting, Rainbow forge, Carter lodge, can anyone remember the Sunday school on Utar Terrace?

I have some very good memories of the area, Do you?

There's a series of books about different areas of Sheffield - the ones with the brown covers that can be found in most bookshops. They do one about Hackenthorpe now, although a lot of content isn't actually about Hackenthorpe, but nearby areas, such as Frecheville.

I have seen the book that you mention but can't remember where I got it from, it is a good read with really good photos. Probably the best place to get it is Sheffield Scene on Surrey Street, or Sheffield Newspapers on York Street. It is well worth looking at.
