I had all sorts of problems posting the SF badge poll; I was logged out about five times. Every time I tried to edit my post, it logged me off.

I guess it's to do with the software glitches JoeP mentioned earlier.

I eventually noticed this morning this morning, after I'd been logged off so many times I was going to throw something at the pc, and after I had used the Contact Us button, that I was being logged off at, what seemed to be, 15 minute intervals, which I also reported.

On many other forums, you are given the option of logging off after a certain amount of time, e.g. 15 minutes, 6 hours, or never, but we don't seem to have that option on SF. I'm wondering whether there is an option in the Admin Panel, and it has somehow reset itself to 15 minutes.

I've been offline for most of the afternoon and, when I shut down my pc, I was still logged in to SF. I wasn't when I restarted just now.

Here's a funny thing. I logged on, then noticed a thread I'd like to respond to. I clicked on the reply button only to find that I wasn't logged in  .

Anyhoo, logged back in and found I had a PM and replied to that without a problem. Then I went to edit a post and noticed that the 'edit' button was missing, as was the 'quick reply' box... I'd been logged off again.

The funny thing is, my little green light was still lit.

I've just hit the contact us button again because, despite clearing my cookies and temporary internet files twice yesterday (at much inconvenience because it removed a lot of information that I use on a daily basis), I'm still being logged off.

The air is a funny colour blue around these parts:mad:

I've just been into the gubbins of Firefox and selectively deleted most of the SF cookies, and cleared my cache. I deliberately left behind the non-SF cookies, and a couple of SF cookies that didn't look like they were specifically ad-related. It seems to have worked so far. It was driving me mad a little while ago; every time I clicked on a link to navigate the site it logged me out.

There's a thread about this over in the General Chit-Chat section. It seems to be affecting quite a few people. It's driving me mad; I'm getting logged out every second click on the navigation links!

The admin people know about it and are trying to sort it out.

A temporary fix is to clear your internet cache, and clear your cookies. I don't know if internet explorer will allow you to selectively remove just the Sheffield Forum cookies (if that's the browser you use), but I know Firefox does.

Be warned though that this fix appears to be only temporary; at least it is for me. I have to do it each time I visit the Sheffield Forum web site.

It works temporarily for me; until I close down and re-enter the site late on. On which point I have to empty the cache/cookies again. I'm in Firefox.

i've been on an hour i think ! and its logged me off once already, got really tiered of it yesterday so came off all togeather. Is it only happing to a few people are everyone? Has the problem gone away for everyone and if not how can we get a mod to read this? they may be able to help!

It's still happening to me.....I've used the contact us button today, and have just added to my message, because I think it may have something to do with cookies.

When I login, I always tick the "Remember me" box, but it's not remembering my login details. Also, the box that I get on other sites, asking if I'd like my computer to remember my login details, isn't appearing when I log in to SF.

You could always report your own post, but it's only Geoff and Co-Admin who can sort the problem out, so it would probably be better to use the contact us button.

Have you tried using the "contact us" button?

You could report your own post, but that probably won't sort the problem.

You should use the contact us button. I've reported the post so that one of the mods reads it for you.

Maybe they don't quite know how to fix the problem yet. New forum software and all that. :suspect: Still, it'd be nice just to get a 'we are aware of the problem and are working on it' message wouldn't it.

For the umpteenth time today, I've just had to login again but, for the first time, I got the box asking whether I wanted my computer to remember my login details.

Hopefully, this means an end to the logout problems. I'll keep you posted:)

I posted too soon.....I've been logged off three time since my above post, once while I was posting a message, and I'm not getting the box asking me if I want my computer to remember my login details anymore.

Hopefully for the last time - we are trying to fix it.

For those of you who keep telling us about this day after day, I know.

I spent umpteen hours on here yesterday, and will no doubt spend umpteen hours on here today. Geoff's spent God knows how long on various issues. We're looking in to it. We're not spending our time picking fluff out of our navels and scratching our stomachs whilst lying in a hammock, a la Homer Simpson. :)

Now, the current knowledge on this issue is in this sticky.

http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=91287

So, can I ask that we all RTFS - Read The Friendly Stickie!

Not sure if this has been said before, but when I click on the "go to new post" arrow, it goes to the post just below the first new post in a thread.

Its only a minor, but still.

Yes, it's a vBulletin bug rather than anything we've introduced.

But we are aware of it.

Thanks,
