Hi people,
I've been talking with a mate about films that get banned in the UK and to be honest I can't tell the truth in banning films these days. We got talking about it after we found out Human Centipede 2 was in production earlier in the year but had been banned for release in the UK. I then found out that in October they had changed their mind but 32cuts had to be made.

We recently managed to get hold of an uncut version and can see why some people might not want to watch it. But surly that should be each individual persons choice if they want to watch it or not?

Personally I think the film is shocking compared to the first, its more visual but has no story and the only thing going for it is the gore. The UK version in my oppoinion will be even worse as all the best bits have been cut

My question is.... is there really any point in banning films now that its so easy for a producer to just get it published elsewhere and it will just make people want to watch it even more? Should it be upto each individual person 18+ if they would like to watch it or not?

Yes I think there should be some control over violent films, the world is too violent to start with. Especially ban violent Xbox games that children use. Even the adds on TV are sometimes too scary!

But surly if they put an 18 on something its the parents fault if they allow their kids watch/play them. I know what I was younger I didn't want anything over my age

The internet has crippled censorship, which is open to interpretation if that is a good or a bad thing.

I am firmly in the "don't bother censoring" camp. Humans have been brutal and violent to each other throughout history, and it certainly didn't start when people made films, books or music with swear words in.

They should ban the constant stream of drivel like Xfactor and that bloody Rhiana woman. Much better for society than banning films.

Yes, let's get rid of material aimed at adults. That's an entirely more sensible option than parents taking responsibility for their children's entertainment activities  .
