I cant see why not :) you'll never get to find out whats next, whether god exists or if its completely "nothing" also wont you get bored livin forever? spyro2000 14-02-2006, 16:02 you'll never get to find out whats next, whether god exists or if its completely "nothing" also wont you get bored livin forever? I dont see why life would be boring if I lived forever. New technology and all that. Ive been alive 25 years so far and im still not bored yet. Plus if I did pop it and there is no after life, then it will have been no point in dieing would there :) DaBouncer 14-02-2006, 16:03 I think I'd like to live forever if it were possible. spyro2000 14-02-2006, 16:06 I think I'd like to live forever if it were possible. For just £1000 I can give you some medicine that will allow you to live forever. If it doesnt work I guarantee you a full refund  Unidentified 14-02-2006, 16:06 I dont see why life would be boring if I lived forever. New technology and all that. HappyHoosier 14-02-2006, 16:12 I'd live forever, provided I wasn't old and decrepit by the time the "forever" part kicked in. I've got ideas, goals and interests that could keep me occupied for eternity. Plenty of time to nap, too! mistyraven 14-02-2006, 16:21 I would like to live long enough to see my children and grandkid,s grow up. maybe pop my clog,s around 90  then again may get to 90 and want to see my great grankid,s grow up Just enjoy everyday, live life to the full. SatanInHeels 14-02-2006, 16:43 i think the idea of having to live forever is pretty bad even on a good day. surely it would get so boring and you would be constantly seeing those who you love dying before you. cgksheff 14-02-2006, 16:47 I would like to live "as long as I wanted". Which would probably mean with full mental faculties and a reasonable level of physical health. It would also mean being able to pack it in, if I wanted! PerlOfWisdom 14-02-2006, 16:48 I read once that the average person would die at 1500 years old (from an accident) if no-one died of natural causes. Crayfish 14-02-2006, 17:11 Perl - based on current accident rates and your chance of dying each year, you would statistically have a 27% chance of living forever. 1500 may be a reasonable average but there would be the potential for much longer (and shorter) lifespans. I'm working on it (doing my dissertation on the molecular basis of ageing and hopefully I might be able to continue on to do a PhD in a related field). Helpful links: http://www.gen.cam.ac.uk/sens/ (This has a lot of information for laypeople) Journals for the more scientifically inclined - Rejuvenation Research, Experimental Gerontology. If anyone's interested ask me in August and you can have a look at my dissertation, which will be a kind of review of the field as a whole, the current state of knowledge and hopes for the future. Kthebean 14-02-2006, 17:13 No way! I would want to die like normal people! You would get so sick of getting close to people then watching them grow old and die, that eventually you'd just be really lonely :( Cuscula 14-02-2006, 18:08 i dont die or dont grow old, like ive said in previous posts im in neverland!!!!!!!!! cgksheff 14-02-2006, 18:25 i dont die or dont grow old, like ive said in previous posts im in neverland!!!!!!!!! I would'nt want to live this life forever. Talk about eternal damnation. I'd like to live again and next time be dealt a winning hand. dieselbabe 14-02-2006, 23:56 It all depends if i did live forever will i be like a vegatable and not be able to move much. as you do see old people strugle at age over 60 so if i was over 200 will i be able to walk about and talk. If this was the case then no i want to die and not live, as no point in liveing just to see the wall's of a house or some people from time to time. Solomon1 15-02-2006, 00:05 i'd like to live forever if it was as i am now....think of it.....the prospect of constant upgrades as humans got more technical! maybe i'd be able to fly.....wweeeeeeee! :hihi: misterseven 15-02-2006, 00:14 i'd give anything to live forever as long as i never aged phsycally. there is far too much beauty to see and experience in the world for one meagre lifetime. shoeshine 15-02-2006, 00:34 It all depends if i did live forever will i be like a vegatable and not be able to move much. as you do see old people strugle at age over 60 so if i was over 200 will i be able to walk about and talk. You cheeky devil, you. :) I am over 60 but still manage to make it to the Betting Shop, Toilet, Car Boot Sales and Big Macs etc......not necessarily in that order. OK, I have to wear incontinance pads, longjohns, ear muffs and bottle- bottomed glasses. I have a regular appointment to see the local Quack, who welcomes me like a case of the Black Death. I am looked upon as a menace at the local Supermarket, and sometimes start a fight at the A & E when I get treatment after a night out, but other than that I am quite placid, once the medication kicks in. My motorised Scooter gets me right into the thick of things at the Leadmill, and, I still like Big Bopper. So don't be cheeky, please, you young whippersnapper! :D dieselbabe 15-02-2006, 00:37 You cheeky devil, you. :) I am over 60 but still manage to make it to the Betting Shop, Toilet, Car Boot Sales and Big Macs etc......not necessarily in that order. Thats what happened to Tom Hanks in green mile. Agent Dan 16-02-2006, 08:50 I'd like to live forever, just to see what happens! GazB 16-02-2006, 09:16 If I stayed the same as I am now, yes I'd like to live forever.. But if I aged and aged as normal but just didn't die, I'll stick to my original plan of dying before I reach 40. I don't plan on staying long :) pretty_polly 16-02-2006, 14:18 I would like both, I would LOVE to live forever but then I would want to die when I'm good and ready and there is nothing else on this earth for me to do. At the moment I'd say I wanna live forever as I am so scaired of getting old and dying anyway that I dont wanna think about it. So for me LIVE FOREVER ;-) LordChaverly 16-02-2006, 14:49 Let me die a young man's death not a free from sin tiptoe in candle wax and waning death not a curtains drawn by angels borne 'what a nice way to go' death Norbert 16-02-2006, 16:14 An extract from Still Life by Van Der Graff Generator: Citadel reverberates to a thousand voices, now dumb: What have we become? What have we chosen to be? Now, all history is reduced to the syllables of our name- nothing can ever be the same: now the Immortals are here. At the time it seemed a reasonable course to harness all the force of life without the threat of death, but soon we found that boredom and inertia are not negative, but all the law we know, and dead are will and words like survival. Arrival at immunity from all age, all fear and all end... why do I pretend? Our essence is distilled and all familiar taste is now drained, and though purity is maintained it leaves us sterile, living through the millions of years, a laugh as close as any tear; living, if you claim that all that entails is breathing, eating, defecating, screwing, drinking, spewing, sleeping, sinking ever down and down and ultimately passing away time which no longer has any meaning. -------------------------------------------- Mind you I would choose forever in a snap, so long as I had company. daverity 16-02-2006, 16:23 I'll stick to my original plan of dying before I reach 40. I don't plan on staying long :) Shall we remind you of that on the eve of your 40th birthday?:D Crayfish 16-02-2006, 17:09 I'd love to live forever, so much has happened to the world over the last century - imagine what you could live to see over the next few. It'd let me and everyone else put some serious time into getting better at what they're good at, and if the root causes of ageing were removed maybe everyone would be able to enjoy the vitality of youth? I think ageing is the major thing holding humanity back from doing a much better job of things - with no excuse of 'I'll be dead by the time climate change kicks in' or 'I'm going to die anyway so I might as well take drugs etc.' there'd be a lot more motivation to take care of ourselves and our world. |
