Im used to the fact that Sheffield rarely appears on the weather maps, but we dont even get an appearance on the branch finder map of the Alliance and Leicester- see http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/siteinfo/index.asp?page=branch-locator-mapsearch

I take your point. Even though Sheffield & Rotherham conurbation is larger than Nottingham, you have to click on that location to find Sheffield/Rotherham branches. That's Midlanders for you.

Sorry guys but Sheffield is now officaly a suburb of Cardif, so for correct weather just dial up Wales

surely it's because we are a suburb on the outskirts of Leeds

Maybe they just assume Sheffield people know where they live, so don't need a little label.

But Cardif [and Swansea] isn't where it should be. And Wales is a bit randomly drawn in general.

I find it funny how on our road atlas, the page is titled 'Nottingham and the Pennines', even though Nottingham is right on the edge of the page, and Sheffield is in the centre.

Anyway, on that Alliance and Leicester map, Norwich doesn't even have a place. It's just a name floating about on top of Norfolk.

Another good one is http://maps.google.co.uk, where Sheffield is now called Norton (Which now seems as big a city as Leeds and Manchester).

OMG look where Birmingham is! And Swansea definitely wasn't by there the last time I drove through it.

I love the town called Wales- I'm originally from Cardiff so when I saw there was a Wales here too, I was delighted! :D

Many years ago I was in the Council Planning dept, and the guy at the next desk was on the phone to the Ordnance Survey headquarters in Southampton. His side of the conversation went
" I'm ringing from Sheffield.........Sheffield.......S-H-E-F-F-I-E-L-D........ look at the map, find Leeds. Now go due south, now find Manchester and go due east. Now where the lines cross is the 4th largest city in England, called Sheffield". If Ordnance Survey don't know, what chance for anybody else!
