View Full Version : Found - tied to a tree - Black labrador*gone home*
satman2222 02-12-2011, 21:00 A 2-3 year old black labrador dog has been found tied to a tree and abandonded this evening in the wooded area behind the Marishell chippy in Ecclesfield. Please contact Marie on 07890 928314 if you want to claim him. Looks like he will need a new home if the owner doesn't come forward.
He has a red collar and one of those extending/retractable leads.
thorphanger 02-12-2011, 21:07 Unbelievable, how cruel can people be. The person who abandoned the dog ought to be tied to a tree and left there in the freezing cold for a few nights.
highflyerjak 02-12-2011, 21:08 Poor dog! Wonder how the owner would feel if we tied him to a tree and left him without food etc?!
Can't imagine what's going through the poor dogs mind.
How can people do this.
cruel git some owners should be tied to a tree and whipped how can any1 do this to a poor defencless animal my son got a kitten this week and within 10 mins of him getting home he was streched out on the sofa animals are so trusting it beggers belief how any1 can abuse that trust
DaisyBoo 02-12-2011, 21:14 the owner shouldnt be allowed the dog back.
Elizabeth13 02-12-2011, 21:14 Labwellfare might want to get involved here
Snagglepuss 02-12-2011, 21:19 Oh how can people do that !!!!!!!:mad::mad:
please take to a vet to see if he is chipped poor thing , I hope he finds a good home where he will be loved .
Poor thing some people are just plain thoughtless!! :( my first port of call would be to take him to get him scanned at a vets.
They will more than likely have to contact the dog warden :( what a shame, yet another dog in the bloody pound in this cold weather.
Jackie2141 02-12-2011, 21:25 Only evil people could do such a cruel thing. Whatever their cicumstances it does not excuse doing such a thing to a defencless animal. :(:(
Please bear in mind that this poor dog could have been stolen from his owners before being abandoned, so the owners may not be responsible for this horrible situation.
If they are then they should hang their heads in shame.
satman2222 02-12-2011, 21:36 No-one is going to see this now it's been dumped in this section......:(
No-one is going to see this now it's been dumped in this section......:(
Can the mods not put it back into a section that's more widely read?
I hope he is claimed soon. I have a lab and I can't imagine what she'd feel if we left her somewhere. Poor thing x
Elizabeth13 02-12-2011, 22:24 No-one is going to see this now it's been dumped in this section......:(
Actually, quite a lot of people in this section and visit this section.
Quite possibly the best place for it, as there are Rescue organisations here who may take the dog on in the future for rehoming.
purplepeke 02-12-2011, 22:35 The dog may have run off, if the owner had lost grip of the lead, and someone tied him up for safety, expecting the owner to still be looking...??? Obviously we don't know the full story, and probably never will, lets just hope if the owner is genuine they do manage to locate him, and if not, i am sure there will be someone who is looking for a lab, who will give him all that he needs. Well done for the person finding him, and getting him to safety.
Rainrescue 02-12-2011, 22:46 Start another thread in the main section - asking 'why would someone tie a dog to a tree' - its not really duplicating this thread and may make people think twice?
As above - could be for a number of reasons why its tied up - i just personally couldn't abandon a dog on its own anywhere - god knows what sort of people may just pick it up and take it. Hopefully its in and warm somewhere tonight. Sadly - there are hundreds more out there being dumped and abandoned, lets hope they too find a nice passer by who will take them to warmth and safety until home is found.
AuntieBiz 03-12-2011, 09:15 Awwwwwwwwww poor mite. Labrador Welfare would be a good place to contact if he's not claimed. x
You need to contact the wardens on 101... you need a found dog pack where you can keep the dog for 28 days until the dog becomes yours, or you need to take him to the kennels, he may have been stolen!!
satman2222 03-12-2011, 13:09 Good? news - the dog has been claimed by its owner!
MuteWitness 03-12-2011, 14:22 Really ? did they claim it from yourself and were they definitely the owner?
satman2222 03-12-2011, 18:47 No I wasn't looking after it, but the dog certainly recognised its owner when re-united.
Moonbird 03-12-2011, 19:22 No I wasn't looking after it, but the dog certainly recognised its owner when re-united.
Any idea how it ended up left tied to the tree?
How do you know the owners hadn't just changed their minds after abandoning it themselves.
satman2222 04-12-2011, 21:26 Owner claimed he tied it up while he went into a nearby shop and was gone when he went back for it, but the dog was observed to be tied up for some considerable time before being rescued.
Ghostrider 04-12-2011, 22:28 Lets hope it doesnt end up like another one that was claimed by its "owner" and then found with horrific injuries.....
