Sunderland defender Neill Collins has signed for the Blades on loan until the end of the season.
The tall 22 year old will be drafted straight into the squad for the Sheffield derby at Hillsborough where he will meet his new team-mates for the first time.Matteo looks a no go Hughes want's to keep his defenders for the 12 match Prem run in.
fnkysknky 18-02-2006, 12:01 Anyone else seen the award we're up for from the Football League Awards? Best ground in the league as voted for by away fans - shortlist is Sheff Utd, Reading and Hull :D
barnie41 18-02-2006, 15:14 Sounds like a cracker from Tonge - and a goal from Akinbyi that will do him a world of good.
Thankfully, the minutes silence was respected by all from what I could hear - what a first half for the red and white wizards
Now come on - bury them.
I SO wish I had a ticket.
carcrash 18-02-2006, 15:47 I'm trying to listen to the match on radio sheffield on a digital radio and i don't think I've ever heard worse commentry. It's an effing disgrace. 2 blokes talking over the top of each other all the time and hardly mentioning whats happening in the match.

Their two fans, one a blade and one a pig.
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Just listening to all the pig fans slating Wendy.
fnkysknky 18-02-2006, 16:32 Two good goals and should have been more. Dyer fluffed a great goalscoring chance but apart from that he impressed again. Akinbiyi looked better as well and took his goal superbly.
1st half hour was crap and then up until they got the very dodgy penalty they were never in it.
So easily could have been 4 or 5.
Well we outplayed the Owls for 79 minutes & a dubious penalty got them going & nearly snatched an undeserved draw. But good luck to the Owls for the rest of the season.Lucky L***s got another penalty & another player sent off, that is 8 penalty's this season, the highest in the Championship, but 11 points in front now & 10 in front of Watford, going all to plan at the moment.UP THE MIGHTIER BLADES
well done blades, nowt finer than doin the double eh........excellent conduct during the minutes silence aswell:thumbsup:
:) :) Have to hold our hands up the better team won. That said the owls could have sneaked a draw late on .Onwards and upwards as they say and one things for sure wel not be playing utd next season??
Didn't go to the match (I was working) but, when I got back home about 3.45pm there was a message to ring my son urgently. On the blower at once, he said would I like to see the 2nd half live.
He's got a multi-satellite system at home, and the nice people running the Beam-Back to the Lane were sending the signals via a satellite at 12.5 degrees West, and free-to-air. In 5 minutes I was in his house, watching the match live on his TV. Not as good as being there, but you can still soak up the atmosphere. Commentary was by John Helm.
May I take this opportunity to thank Stanley Cassidy, who supplied the information onto the internet about the frequency, satellite etc.
Blades could and should have been 4 up before the Wendy penalty (which I thought was a bit soft), but they did in my opinion have a better shout for one a bit later on which was not given. If it had ended in a draw I would have been gutted, but justice was done and the best side won, but we could have made it easier for ourselves.
Bragging rights DEFINATELY in S2 and as they were singing at the final whistle :-
And now are you gonna believe us, the Blades are going up !!!!
 :D ;)
barnie41 18-02-2006, 19:31 Well, we got we wanted this afternoon - the double over the Wendy. Thanks to a nicely placed little flutter, I have just had a wonderful meal out, paid for courtesy of Mr Sturrock and his underachieving also rans.
Just couldn't bring myself to order the pork - apparently, it's been off since 3 pm today.
Come on you red and white wizards!
Robbie Loving 19-02-2006, 07:00 i fell for the old
"sturrock is not gonna be at the game today" trick today
"why not"?
"he has got a bad side" ha ha ha
anyways..... should have been more than 2, but who is gonna complain? 3 points and promotion assured yesterday. the penalty was a penalty but i thought a harsh decision. but who cares?
AND NOW YOUR GONNA BELIEVE US..... THE BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADES ARE GOING UP
Rocklegend 19-02-2006, 08:23 Excellent debut by the Sunderland boy;looked like he'd been part of the team all season.Thought we might be in trouble without Shorty and Bromby. As for Adie's transfer fee......am I bovvered:hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
Robbie Loving 19-02-2006, 08:31 yeah..... well id heard rumour about james collins coming to the lane, at 11 i got a message from my mate saying "what do you think to the collins transfer" (i was at work at time and i think james collins is a great transfer) so i jumped up and goes "COME ONNNNNNN, JAMIE COLLINS COME ON" desparately searched BBC website, and sky, NOTHING ON THERE, goes to sufc website (usually last place to tell about transfers lol) and it said neil collins i was a bit gutted, but he had a good debut, and if he only plays that one game, i will still be thankful for his contribution to what us blades know is a very worthy cause.
barnie41 19-02-2006, 09:21 Just seen the highlights on the Championship - I 've waited all week to see Millwall v Palace, what a cracking game, and so important to everybody north of Watford gap. I got up early just to watch it.
ITV IDIOTS - WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT?
Same here Barnie41,I would have thought the steel city derby would have been a bigger game than Millwall & Palace, but the goals for Utd were outstanding & the Collins lad played really well seeing he only met his team mates a few hours earlier.UP THE MIGHTIER BLADES
Kenny 7/10 - Actually had very little to do from start to finish. Dealt with most things well although an errant punch at the end could have led to a goal.
Kozluk 8/10 - Excellent. Numerous blocks, tackles and a big goal-line clearance at the end. Played very well today and showed no little skill in a committed performance.
Armstrong 7/10 - Did well defensively. His distribution was up and down but he has come in and done quite well. Unsworth won't be an automatic returnee.
Collins 7/10 - Did okay to say it was his first start. He looked comfortable enough against a poor side. He will be tested more severely in the weeks to come but he came through his first test.
Morgan 8/10 - Determined performance. He won most things in the air and, like Kozluk, got in a lot of blocks and clearances. An old fashioned defensive display but led by example. Considering he was a major doubt that makes his performance even more impressive.
Jagielka 7/10 - Still needs to do more but broke up enough of the play and made enough tackles and breaks forward. An improved performance from the other night. Solid if not spectacular.
Tonge 8/10 - Excellent again. Great goal and some really astute passes. Rarely wasted the ball and was technically very good. Probably the most gifted player on the pitch in terms of what he did when on the ball.
Montgomery 7/10 - Like Jagielka, he won tackles, and helped control a lot of loose balls. He was not outstanding but covered a lot of ground as he always does. Generally, maximum effort in a game like today is enough when everyone's distribution was generally poor.
Ifill 7/10 - An up and down performance. Sometimes showed an excellent touch and looked dangerous.
Dyer 7.5/10 - Like the other night, his touch and hold-up play was excellent. He also linked play very well but his miss in the second half was a bad moment which could have sealed the victory long before it was ensured. Worked well with Akinbiyi.
Akinbiyi 7.5/10 - Harried and worried the Wednesday defenders. He held the ball up well and also looked a genuine threat. Could have had a few goals with far easier chances than the corker he smashed in. He did cause a hell a lot of problems for Coughlan and Bullen and was actually physically too strong for Coughlan on a couple of occasions.
Substitutes
Horsfield, Geary and Flitcroft - All came on at varying stages in the last 10 minutes as United sought to close out the game.
great result brilliant goals fron tonguey and akindonkey...........now i'm sure we're goin up

royjames 19-02-2006, 20:04 We ought to have won the game before half time, that we didnt is worrying, after all against BETTER TEAM THAN THE OWLS WE MIGHT NOT GET AWAY WITH IT.
I also thought the atmosphere was not as good as it ought to be,maybe thats due to the fact the blades fans expected to win it and they were anxious.
Still its 3 more valuable points and thats all that matters.

RunningFree 20-02-2006, 12:49 Did they still not go on general sale? They had to have stubs originally but on the day couldn't anyone get tickets??
no- without the stubs you couldn't get tickets for any part of the wednesday area- just shows how loyal there fans are!
I'm back :)
Been errant for the past week on a booze-trip with Uni to the continent. Whoever arranged it for the Reading match needs shooting as I hear I missed a cracker.
Saturday more than made up for it though. Met at the Lion as usual with all the lads necked a few and then ran up to the Catherdral to get a tram. The tram was packed full of Blades who were all in fine voice (click here (http://www.sheff-utd.co.uk/pics/pigs/Tram1.mov) if you have the latest version of Quicktime player and be warned of the bad language!)
I was on the upper tier and the atmosphere was amazing and the minute's silence very moving. It could very easily be any of us travelling football fans who get injured going to and from matches and a death eclipses all rivalries.
We dominated throughout, despite some of the reports I've read. Even after the penalty, they didn't look like scoring again. Maybe it was alcohol-fueled, but that was the most confident I've ever been in a derby match.
Some of the idiots were starting on Leppings Lane afterwards, and we were lucky not to be crushed going for the tram but it was straight back to the Lion for a celebratory couple.
Sunday morning, I woke up with a headache and covered in bruises but it was well worth it :D
I'll have more pictures and vids later.
fnkysknky 20-02-2006, 22:52 I just borrowed his ratings why
Because I read his match reports on BU and I've noticed a few times that you've posted a copy and paste from there. Wondered if you were the same guy.
No I am Tosh13,I sometimes copy & paste in case any other Blades fans may have missed a particular news item.
benclements2 21-02-2006, 15:24 Not that I'm concerned about Leeds or Watford catching us, because our promotion is down to us, but Cresswell is out for the rest of the season. Every little helps......
carcrash 22-02-2006, 09:35 Is there a kids deal coming up at the next couple of home games? Nephew and his mate wants to go
matt1889 22-02-2006, 09:43 Saturday's game against QPR is a cat B game which means its £19.00 for adults on the Kop!
As for Kids deals, A Quid a Kid offer is available at The Lane on Saturday, U'16's can gain entry to any area of the ground for just £1 if they purchase a match ticket before the day of the game!

Sheffield United defender Alan Wright is believed to be a target of Championship rivals Derby County.
Although the 34-year-old left-back is a popular figure at Bramall Lane, he is now on the fringes of the Blades first team.
After the way Derby's backroom staff behaved during & after the match I would not give Derby our T lady nevermind a player.Stuff Derby

Tosh, what's the story, mornin' glory ??
What did the Derby backroom staff do to raise your hackles ?
The story about Wright is not mine,it was on a Blades Supporters site & as for Derby, the way they behaved towards Warnock when they had a player sent off & I don't like Derby anyway,so that's my reason.UP THE MIGHTIER BLADES
Derby County have made their second loan signing in two days, taking Sheffield United left-back Alan Wright on a one-month deal.
pah- good- get him off our wages- i think that we should be loaning more of our fringe players out anyway!!!
so come on people- who do you think that warnock should be buying in the close season for the premiership????

How about Alan Smith - should get him cheap now. A bit below the belt I know, but he used to play for dirty L**ds, so that makes him a fair target.
PS. I hope he recovers !!

BLADES STAR IN PUB BRAWL ARREST
SHEFFIELD United star Alan Quinn has been arrested over a bar brawl which left a man in hospital.
The 26-year-old midfielder, a Blades regular, has been quizzed over claims he attacked a man in his local pub in a row over a game of pool.
His alleged victim - a 39-year-old from Hillsborough - needed hospital treatment for a head injury following the incident in The Pheasant Inn on Station Lane in Oughtibridge - close to Quinn's home.
Probably fed up of having things thrown at him from the upper tier of the Bramall Lane stand, and lost it. Really I don't know why he was dragged away, but one thing last night took the edge off it. I was sat up there, and there was a fair turn out of half brained morons, who spent a good deal of time baiting the Reading fans. Other people have said there were things being thrown down from the BLUT. After the game, Hahnemann went to their fans and gave a shirt away, quality gesture - another player came over to talk to a very young kiddy, quality gesture.
How do the good old blades fans react - a full coke bottle got thrown at the goalie, which landed in the crowd.
Am I missing something, or do these full weight idiots/ losers/ no brained pratts realise what they are endangering here.
Or do they like having parts of the ground empty.
No action from the stewards, one of which who was sat two rows below where these fools were sat.
We might be playing Premier football, but it won't look good with another section of stand closed, with the financial loss that could be incurred.
Most of the fans were fantastic last night, sorry but some of them are a disgrace and should stay out of it for good. Call themselves blades???????????
Looks like we might end up in trouble for that.

fnkysknky 24-02-2006, 19:27 Come on then - who the hell do we play upfront tomorrow out of Super Dan, Kabs, Horse, Ade, Ships, Dyer and Deano?
Let's frighten the opposition to death and play them ALL.
Only joking !!!!!!
:hihi:
Warnock will probably play Webber out of position down the right with Ade and Horse up front IMO. A bit worrying for any team at this level :suspect:
Blades: Kenny, Kozluk, Armstrong, Collins, Morgan, Jagielka, Montgomery, Ifill, Tonge, Horsfield, Akinbiyi. Subs: Flitcroft, Shipperley, Webber, Kabba, Unsworth. It is great to see Webber back. This is a strong team Warnock has picked.UP THE BLADES
Well thats another game lost,I think we have made too many changes.I remember Keegan doing the same when they were 14 points clear at the top of the Premiere League.I just knew we would lose today,in the DM Morgan said the Blades fans should not take QPR too lighty, well it seem's the players thought that not the supporters,a missed pen,an og & 1 on the break.Lucky L***s did it again,4 players sent off against them in the last 3 matches includes 1 today. Are the referee's trying too give L***s the 2nd spot it seem's so.Not so happy Blade
Stats for game
SUFC v QPR
8 Goal Attempts 10
3 On Target 9
5 Off Target 0
0 Hit Woodwork 1
4 Corners 1
18 Fouls 23
0 Offsides 1
1 Yellow 4
barnie41 25-02-2006, 17:34 I agree Tosh. Too many changes - why don't we know which strikers to pair up, why was Unsworth so poor when he came on, why did we look all at seaat the back, why can't we do the basics right and what on earth was Ifill doing taking that penalty? Three one up and its a different game. We've just paid 1.75m for Ade, and Horsefield is an ex premier striker, and we let a midfielder who isn't having the best of times, step up for that.
Ifill let himself and us down today - and he knows it. Akinbyi + Horsefield - its your job to take that responsibility and to deal with it on the pitch.
Blackwell will be loving this. Its in our hands - we cannot afford another one like that. QPR should have had six and we couldn't have complained.
Hopefully a good tanking of Crewe should put things right.
Anothet not so happy blade, but still think we'll do it automatic.
Bad bad substitutions from warnock, defensively we looked shocking.
I'm totally shocked at how bad we played in the second half.
I would have thought Aky would have taken the penalty,he is full of confidence, but what got me ,it said on the radio that Bircham whispered in Iffill's ear before he took the penalty,it must have been good to take him out of his stride.I said to the wife today we have to watch Bircham & Furlong today & it happened.I think Warnock should have started with Aky & Kabba & used Horsfield as a sub,it is near the end of the season & new players gel straight away or take 6 or so matches to get used to the other player's.But I think Warnock gambled today & he lost.I think with the next few game's L***s have & Watford could be the defining moment of our season,to let 1 of them take our place would be devastasting. But feeling down & I hope we can put on a good show against Crewe who I might add scored 3 against Reading a few matches ago & they got 2 today.UP THE BLADES
I was going to say last night that i had a bad feeling about QPR but i didn't want to tempt fate. Wish i'd have posted away now :?
To say i'm starting to twitch when i look below us is an understatement.
if we play like this any more where in the playoffs
last 10 games
won 4
drawn 3
lost 3
not the form we need to get in the Premiership
I also read that Warnock's had it with Quinny after his latest brawl and he's going to sack him :?
Robbie Loving 26-02-2006, 07:30 woah woah woah, lets be straight, yes we was lucky only to concede 3...... BUT this was before we let paul awful (sorry ifill) take the penalty.
when we was 2-1 up and got the pen, we was easy on top of the game and crusing it.
as for the people questioning the partnership of ade and geoff...... well you was all hailing geoff as the saviour when he joined us last week (i on the other hand thought different, he is not the answer, he just creates more problems ie 3 strikers on the bench yesterday, and thats with not having dyer and deane in the squad) horsefield did **** all yesterday (and thats giving him credit) where as ade on the other hand ran all over the defence continually running for the ball. was disappointed to see him coming off (something i never thought id say)
we just went to pot after the penalty miss, still unknown to me as to why awful took, as warnock says he is a confidence player.... well im sure that has done him the world of good, cause once he missed that the crowd was on his back..... and he continually annoys me with trying to do too much with the ball. he loses the ball about 3 times out of 5..... he can be good yes but absolutely shocking.
MOTM for yesterday, either armstrong or akinbadbuy
armstrong was putting in some right crosses and free kicks yesterday, unsworth came on and with his first kick (told armstrong he was taking free kick) straight in to a one man wall...... what is all that about?
I have just seen the goals on TV & we have the strikers to get us into the Premiere League but the not the defence. All 3 goals were a farce,we struggle against the long ball teams,at least Crewe play football so we should be ok.But as for Horsfield I am glad we signed him but we should have played him in the team gradually,as I said some players can score straight away when in a new team & other's take a few games, but I cannot understand why Dyer wasn't even in the squad??.Warnock said on TV that the doom & gloom merchants will be at it,as Utd supporters don't we have the the same right's to an opinion as the Manager. Is Gillespie still injured.L***s got away with a blatant penatly decision, but Watford & them seem to be getting all the lucky breaks at the moment.UP THE BLADES
youwhatref 27-02-2006, 05:48 I also read that Warnock's had it with Quinny after his latest brawl and he's going to sack him :?
I'd be gobsmacked if he does as i understand that Quinny has been a plus for you thsi season.
And what is with Utdites?? Listening to the radio, Utdites were all doom and gloom, whilst fans (owls) who have a reason to be doom and gloom were trying to make the best out of what we have (which is little!!).
You've won the derby twice, you're second, you've won games you didn't deserve to and you'll go up. Get behind your team and get shut of Warnock next year
Neil Warnock is encouraging United fans to "shop" their heroes if they see them flouting the ban.
It follows a disturbance in a public house the day after United won the Sheffield derby the previous weekend in the wake of which United's former Wednesday midfielder Alan Quinn was arrested.
Warnock said that Quinn, who is currently out of the side through injury, will be cleared of any wrongdoing and therefore escape disciplinary action. But he is so determined that nothing will undermine United's Premiership ambitions Warnock will not allow his players into a pub even for a soft drink.
I know people can go out for a drink anywhere they wish, but for Quinn to go down to Hillsborough the week after the derby is really stupid.I just hope all them who are drinking stop & think,do they want to play in the top league or the Championship next season, come on Utd & let's do the business.UP THE MIGHTIER BLADES
I think there was 2 defining moments in Saturdays game, obviously the penalty miss and also the substitution of Monty, in my mind it's about time Jags stopped being untouchable no matter what his performances are like.
As far as Ifill is concerned, I try to be positive about him but it is getting harder and harder to justify his selection.
RunningFree 27-02-2006, 10:51 Oh my God! I thought at half time we were going to dominate them second half but what happened!?
All this time I have been trying hard to ease off Ifill and wait to see what he can do but now I have had enough. he was Awful, in fact he was QPR's best player!
people will be wondering why Warnock did not sub him I can tell you why. This comes from the coast (Mick Jones) who my mate lives next door too. He says warnock kept him on purley to **** the crowd off. He was obviously getting boos so Warnock kept him on.
I just can't understand how he is getting a start every game. And Akinbiyi, I have been keeping quiet hoping he is going to be awsome but I can't see it. He scored but apart from that he looks *****. Apart form the Wednesday game I haven't seen him have a good game!
We are really going to struggle unless warnock makes some changes eg. Akinbiyi and Awful!
RobWilson 27-02-2006, 11:38 Who does anyone think is the best radio commentator? I'd go for Paul Walker on Radio Sheffield (with Keith Edwards). For me, Radio Sheffield's commentary team are 1000 times better than the national radio commentaries. Passionate and excitable!
I'd much rather listen to Paul, Seth Bennett and Luke Wileman at the World Cup in Germany this summer rather than the boring Radio Five Live regulars.
I would like to point out that I have absolutely no connection to any of the men, or to Radio Sheffield.
If anyone else thinks that Seth, Paul or Luke would make good World Cup commentators then send an e-mail to charles.runcie@bbc.co.uk. I’m sure all concerned would be appreciative.
Mark- how can you say ade is ****e?? He was one of a very few selection of players who didn't have a bad game on saturday (the only others being kozzy, armstrong and tongy)
RunningFree 27-02-2006, 12:13 Mark- how can you say ade is ****e?? He was one of a very few selection of players who didn't have a bad game on saturday (the only others being kozzy, armstrong and tongy)
He scored yes but I am also comparing him with 1.75mil worth of money. i just don't think he is a patch on lets say....Webber when he plays a full game.
I want him to be ace but up to now he just aint proving anything for me.
He is still learning how we play to be honest and at the minute we just arn't giving him anything like the decent service that he deserves- akinbye is not a target man- yet yesterday we kept on lumping the ball upto him and when we do that he just won't play as well as he can- i think with webber coming back into the team he will start playing off him alot more!!
Give it a couple of games- he has loads of goals in him and next year i think he will get a bagful cos the premiership is played at a slower pace than the championship!
RunningFree 27-02-2006, 12:33 Also what is really annoying me with united and how hey are playing now is Long Ball! Early on in the season when they wree at the best they kept the ball on the floor and it was near perfect. Now they are just lumping it up field which isn't working.
i hate the fact that now we have some taller forwards we insist on playing that way mark- its sooo frustrating- jags has gone off the boil im afraid- id slam quinny or flitcroft in there and see if they can play some better pasing football!
Looking at last season we had a poor Feb & a poor start to March,so let's hope we have a better March this season.Wigan lost in total 9 last season in the Championship & Sunderland 10,I think this season could be a highest points ever for the Championship.I for one do not like us playing the long ball we play much better when the ball is passed on the ground.I have seen Liverpool do the long ball when Crouch is in the team, why do so many managers think that tall players have 2 left feet.Deane was great in his prime with the ball at his feet as well as the long ball smacked up front for him.I just hope we play the way we did up to xmas 05 if we do I can see us gaining promotion.UP THE MIGHTIER BLADES

Akinbiyi and Awful!
do you watch the same games as me mark??? i really wonder sometimes.
akinbiyi was a major plus for us on sat, he never stopped running.
also i can think of a more valid reason awful was not taken off, ie having nobody to replace him..... who would have you put there??? there was nobody to go right mid.
also it must be said about kozluk scott..... yes he had a good defensive game, but yet again im sick of him giving so much possession away, the guys passing is quite frankly ****. and when he doesnt pass he hoofs it forward. id much prefer geary at the back
matt1889 28-02-2006, 08:49 FAO Horsefield doubters!!!...........................
I can remember a few weeks ago, a few people on the SF, saying how Akinbiyi would be a bad buy and fire blanks, But Am I right in saying he's started to get into the run of things and Fire goals away, I think so..........
Ok, Horsefield has started a bit shakey, but it was his first full game in a United shirt and every player needs a little run out, go get used to a team's style of play in Match conditions, Once again I reckon Horsefield is gonna shut all you doubters up and produce some serious football!
If there is anybody who we should be focussing on, It's that ****** Ifill, I follow United week in / Week out, home and away!, And yet I can't seem to grasp why a player who has shown in brief moments that he has so much class!, can't come to apply this every game for a full 90 mins, The "he was injured last season" excuse is running thin, If he's not fit, He shouldn't be on the fu**ing pitch Mr Warnock!............I would much rather you do some switching around, drop Ifill and bring Gillespie in, make Ifill complete to get bk into the first team, because I reckon a big part to Ifill firing blanks, Is that Warnock is up his arse, and he knows he's unlikely to get dropped!

Ifill is a fu*king waste of space at the moment and needs to get his head out of his arse!
I cannot understand why a player like Iffill was wanted by so many last season has failed to live up to his billing,I understand he had a bad ankle injury & I know first hand what it is like to have leg problems & it is simular to Owen when he was at Liverpool & him having all his hamstring problems & he went to see a sports physicologist, as it wasn't the pain that was the problem but he was scared about getting another bad injury, this can cause all sort's of mental problems worrying about getting injured when the player has been out for month's.Owen was not getting into the same places or tackles he was getting into before his bad injury. So my meaning is, if Iffill is suffering from the same problem of worrying about another bad injury I can understand why he plays great one game & against physical teams he seems to back down from runs & tackles & get's rid of the ball to quickly,I have not seen him play live only on TV so I would be grateful from my fellow Blades who watch him regular is monitor his games & watch him for pulling out of tackles & getting rid of the ball.UP THE MIGHTIER BLADES
here's a novel idea for blades fans- instead of discussing how to slag off (ifill, no no- horsefield, no- collins) - why don't we all get BEHIND them??? EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!!!
Booing them isn't going to help them at all!!!
Totally agree, booing your own players leaves a negative effect all through the team,I was not slagging of any of our players, but there must be some underlying problem with Iffill, playing well one game & not so well for 2 or 3.It could be a problem with his past injurys like I said before & that prays on the mind.I think Warnock should have a word with him,he keeps saying it's a confidence thing, well worrying about getting injured can cause a deep confidence problem.Look at past players when they have had bad injurys, like Shearer when he had his cruciate ligament damage he was timid going into the tackle for about 6 or 7 games & he admit he was worried about getting a bad injury again,it is forced to play on the mind, after all players are human as well.UP THE MIGHTIER BLADES. PS:The game scheduled for the 15th April against Cardiff will be played on Good Friday 14th & will be on sky sports.
Robbie Loving 28-02-2006, 17:12 first of all...... ifill passing the ball early and getting rid?? him passing might be a novel thing. hogging *******, he is worse than kabba for keeping hold of the ball for far too long.
matt1889, i said horsefield will not be a good signing, everyone else seems to disagree, i seriously hope he changes my mind about him, i just dont believe he is the answer,

Sheffield United are reportedly ready to offer striker Neil Shipperley a new deal.
The 31-year-old faces a battle for regular football after the recent arrival of three forwards - Ade Akinbiyi, Geoff Horsfield and Bruce Dyer.
Shipperley had been linked with a loan exit, with Brighton thought to be tracking the experienced hitman.
United boss Neil Warnock said: "There is no way I want Shipps to go."

I think calling someone a B*****d is out of order & as for Kabba he has scored some crucial goals for us this season,as for Iffill I think Warnock should rest him & bring Quinn & Gillespie back in the team Geary as well.
I wonder which striker's Warnock will use against Crewe, certain the first will be Akyinbyi because of the transfer cost,Dyer played well when given his chance, but with Webber fit will he play him or Horsfield, this is the problem at the moment the team is unstable because of the uncertainty of who will play up front. We need Quinn or Gillespie on the bench to allow us to change the midfield,Iffill I would rest.I hope Monty is fit & Bromby as well we look a better team with them in it.Crewe have alway's been a decent footballing team so I hope we play the ball on the ground & not lamp it up to the strikers.UP THE MIGHTIER BLADES
Warnock say's from now on it's a siege mentality & promises to silence the doubters with an impressive performance on friday against Crewe live on Sky Sports. We are getting stick from a minority of fans, but I do not think we need it when Jagielka is getting criticised for a bad pass in the first 5 minutes of a game said"Warnock".We are not worried about the media or the fans or others,we know we have a good squad & we are where we are on merit.

figure of speach calling him that.......
yes kabba has scored some crucial goals this season, but he is still lazy it really is that simple. ifill has scored some crucial goals too (remember watford away?) but he is still lazy at times too.
to be honest tosh, you should get yourself down to the lane and get behind the boys, we need all the support we can get.
as for crewe lumping the ball forward, they dont do this, a reason i like crewe, even if they played arsenal they wouldnt do this. but sometimes it proves to be there downfall, ie 4-0 loss against us last season
I cannot get down there as I am disabled & live too far away.I have been a fan for 43 years & I am not a armchair fan by choice.I am a Blade through & through.I went to my first match when I was 7 yrs old & my last when I was 20 yrs & I am just as nasty when we lose ask my missus.LOL.Seriously I have great memories of going to the Lane & even watching the cricket & seeing some of the country's top players of the time.As you can see by my many post's most of them are about the Blades, they are my passion as well as the wife,I have to say that she just seen what I am writing LOL.PS I meant us lamping the ball up field not Crewe they have always played tidy football.

in no way am i critiscising you for not coming to the lane mate by the way.
but yeah, i think the problem lies with us long balling is mainly for 2 reasons, kozzy is playing, and we are trying to fit akinbiyi in to the team
Robbie I know you weren't critiscising me.I agree with you about the long ball,we play so much better on the ground & when I hear that Kenny has just lamped the ball up field & it has gone to an opposing player or goalkeeper it pees me off, possesion in any game can be the difference between winning or losing a game. But we are trying to integrate too many players in the team at the moment instead of doing it gradually, some fit in straight away & some take a few games. But I think we will beat Crewe tomorrow night,I don't have Sky tv so good old Radio Sheffield will do for me.UP THE MIGHTIER BLADES

NEIL TO GET 'JOB FOR LIFE'
NEIL WARNOCK is to be offered a job for life at Sheffield United - even if the Blades miss out on promotion to the Premiership.
The club's PLC chairman Kevin McCabe will offer the 57-year-old a new managerial contract and a top job at the club when he retires.
McCabe said: "When the time comes that Neil retires we have to find a way to use his success and experience."
syko1979 03-03-2006, 09:22 Anyone know if Webber is likely to start tonight?
Him and Akinbiyi up front would be just swell.
matt1889 03-03-2006, 09:26 Not looking likely at the moment, Warnock is expected to play Akinbiyi and Horsefield up front tonight, but I dont think its gonna be all that bad, In fact I reckon tonight will see Horsefields first goal for The Mighty Blades!
Matt
A.B.Yaffle 03-03-2006, 11:30 I think Ade and Shipps, with Webber behind them would be interesting to see. I know it was Horsefield's first start last week, but I didn't think he did much.
More interesting to see what "defense" we play tonight though, as it is the back that is collapsing, not the front.
canadablade 04-03-2006, 00:43 Anyone know if Webber is likely to start tonight?

Being in Canada I only get to see the Blades every couple of years unless they show it on telly at the pub.
Noticed they were showing it at the pub so got off work early and went to cheer on the Blades and have a bevvy.
Few Blades in the pub and a nice atmosphere but could tell right away we would struggle to play football on a snow covered pitch.
Webber --- Didnt pass the ball once I had heard he was a ball hog but it was :gag: To be honest he has pace but hes got to learn to pass ,
And how did the Ref not call a penalty when the Crewe player was riding all over Adi's back :loopy:
If we go up and its a big IF we would need a whole new side because we would get battered in the Premiership :help:
Still been a brilliant season what with the DOUBLE over the pigs and not going to get down on the Blades but NW has to keep a settled side without too many changes and we will go up.

Robbie Loving 04-03-2006, 06:59 to be fair, i dont think we played badly, the snow was always going to make it hard to create clear cut chances, as proved to be the case.
nobody can say we dint deserve to win, we was the better team and had numerous chances to put the game to bed, but we didn't.
a few questionable things from warnock stands at, where was unsworth and shipperley? surely these should be getting picked for at least the bench. it annoys me that HMS has had an amazing season with us, and then as soon as we sign a few strikers, he doesnt get a sniff
i also couldn't understand taking quinny off, and also gillespie, ifill didnt do anything again, and kabba was being as lazy as ever. strange substitutions yet again. if he wanted to go 4-3-3 why not bring horsefield on?
ah well, a point is a point
A.B.Yaffle 04-03-2006, 08:56 Quinny appeared to be injured, so thats probably why he was taken off. I disagree about Ifill, I think he played really well. Jags doesn't seem to be doing anything in the last few games, maybe he needs a rest.
I think we should rest Ade to the bench for the next game and start with Webber and Shipps. Ade does a lot of running about, but when the ball is actually in the penalty area Shipps is much better at putting it in the net.
Agent Gypo 04-03-2006, 13:06 We're still 8 points clear, so it's not too bad. I must admit to being more than a little worried about Leeds' two games in hand though, and the fact that we've only taken 1 point from two games we really should have won.
Still, must keep the faith....

Crewe are fighting for their lives,so they are going to have all 10 players back for most of the game,to snatch a point if they can.L***s were so lucky again Palace gifted them 2 goals the defending was worse than ours, the 2nd goal hit the underside of the bar twice before crossing the line, but Palace ran them ragged in the last 25 minutes & deserved a point,at least Wrighty & Peschy did a job on Watford & they should have lost, but a draw is better than nothing. The one thing that puzzles me is we can play like a Premiership side against the like's of Reading & play like a relegation contender against the lower teams,we always struggle against them I would love to know why?? & the refereee on friday night was a total joke,if that wasn't a penalty then he needs to go to specsavers.UP THE MIGHTIER BLADES.PS & I am fed up of hearing Blackwell spouting his mouth about us all the time,he should shut his mouth & look after his own club & not forget who turned him into the manger he is today,it's time he showed Warnock some respect.

Don't go using the old frozen pitch argument, it was the same for both teams and i don't think it affected the game in anyway. I watched it expecting United to batter Crewe as they we're the worst team i've seen at Hillsborough in years (and that's saying summat!). You did batter em, attempts were something like 20 - 3, but Crewe defended with their lives and even i must admit you should have had a stonewall pen and the ref always stopped play instead of playing the advantage. I dunno why Warnock keeps bleating on about having a Premiership ref all the time though, you're in the Championship (for the moment anyway) and the only time the Championship fixtures do get a Premiership ref is when there are no Prem games on that weekend.
Oh and we did beat em 3-0 in January ;)
While we're all upset about Friday, some things are more important than football, despite what Bill Shankley says :)
On the 4th June this year, myself and two others will be running Cancer Research UK's Race for Life, a women-only race to raise money for the treatment and prevention of cancer. As we're all mad Blades, we're posting messages on many of the Blades sites asking for support.
We're racing particulary in support of our friend Kirsty who wanted to do the race, a lass I met through supporting the Blades who lost her Mum to cancer less than a year ago.
We're hoping to raise as much as possible in memory of all the people we know who suffered this horrible disease, both men and women.
Many of you will know people who'll be taking part in this race and may have already sponsored some of the runners, but for those who haven't, please donate as much as you can afford via the following link... and look for two cheerleaders at Luton, it'll be myself and Kirsty :D
Many thanks in advance.

Oh so players don't get injured on a normal pitch then!
It snowed really heavily for about 45 mins but there is a thing called undersoil heating which was turned on and it stopped snowing about 30 mins before kick off. Anyway if you saw the match on SKY then you would have seen Kamara on the pitch saying that it would 'take a stud' the only thing he mentioned about the snow was that it was sticking to the ball and that might make it difficult to see, which i thought might have helped United seeing as they were the ones with 20 or so attempts at goal. But then again you probably won't have had all this build up at the start, not sure who broadcasted it in Canada. The ball was really the only problem as even when it wasn't covered in snow it was still hard to see (dunno why we don't have orange balls anymore)
Oh and i'm sure United wanted to make sure the game would go ahead so they had the SKY money in their coffers (and before you start on that yeah i know we're skint ;) )

I am sure the Blades will be up with us Royals. I hate Leeds so keep them at arms length and everything will be fine no doubt!
Urrzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz .
Come on trotters..... whats wrong with you lot.... throwing the season away again...last minute nerves...... is Mr warthog still pushing for promotion?? stop looking over your shoulder and get on with the job....
here comes Tweeds.....???
boboskins 11-03-2006, 18:37 I know it sounds daft, and i wish we were in that situation, but with United being able to have a bit of cash to spend seems like it's gone to Warnock's head and he's bought for the sake of it. Did you really need Akinbiyi & Horsfield? It seemed Shipperley, Kabba & Webber were doing OK when they were paired up but now he's bought Akinbiyi he HAS to play him because he spent money on him. His obsession with strikers could cost you (it won't, you'll still go up :( ).
By the way heard on another board that there's been a bust up between Unsworth and Warnock, anyone else heard this?
Robbie Loving 11-03-2006, 19:00 4-3-3 ??????
Didn't work last time, so why try it again? Is Warnock relishing the drama or something?
it was a 4-4-2 with webber on left wing.
to say we was poor in the first half is a massive understatement. morgan at fault for first, and another defensive mistake for second too.....
second half we came out fighting and put some real pressure on, and it looked like we could claw ourselves back in, we just couldnt get the ball in the back of the net.
few things that stick in my mind from today, jags playing left back and webber playing left wing, with armstrong well im not sure where he was meant to be.
no gillespie or ifill on bench, nor unsworth. it seems to me that warnock no longer wants to go for promotion. he is ruining our promotion push.
after todays decisions on who to play where and when it seems to me he has lost the plot, and although ive never said this before, i think now is the time for warnock to go.
also flitcorft should be dropped from sheffield, not just the squad.
on a side note, ricoh arena is an amazing ground, overly impressed by it. although there PA bloke sounded a right gimp.
great support by the united faithful, we deserved better
Rocklegend 11-03-2006, 19:18 Am I missing something coming from the trotters here?Just 2 points from safety and all u can do is slate us.As 4 the Blades performance today;what is Warnock on ? How can a so called Blades fan try his hardest to throw promotion away ? Felt sorry 4 Monty today.:loopy:

monty was taking people on today, couldnt believe it :-o
also taking corners and even a free kic. really what is all that about?? all to the kepper too. he played well again though
Sorry but warnock does not want this club to go up again. Another sad blade.
barnie41 11-03-2006, 21:22 Well, if they don't want to go up, I wish they'd tell us before I forked out for the last four matches.
I really, really want to be confident, but this is wazzing me right off. Top two nearly all season, good football, good atmosphere and everyone seemingly pulling together for once. Finances right, new buildings, ground expansions. Yes, for the first time in years things seem right behind the scenes, and its come together on the pitch.
Then - transfer city - loads of changes - and no I haven't been to Coventry today, but it doesn't sound good at all.
If there's trouble in the dressing room it needs sorting out NOW. If Neil is getting it wrong, he needs to be big enough to cough it, and deal with it, and get back to what we did well before Xmas.
As I said, I want to believe its still on, but how on earth Neil can talk about this being a turning point, and that he's even more confident of promotion - he's only deluding himself.
Time to look in the mirror Mr Warnock, and ask some difficult questions - cos the answers are going to be right there in front of you. Other than that, watch the videos of the Reading game and QPR game, followed by todays match and learn some lessons.
Some of us will be here in ten, twenty and thirty years time and will pay for the privilege.
He may have been offered a job for life, well I'm a supporter for life and will gladly pay out for life, and NO ONE'S ego is bigger than this club.
PLEASE GET IT SORTED NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
