hey fellas, just wondering what the best program is for converting avi's to dvds, I have used the tried and tested methods of...
1) encoding with tmpgenc.
2) authering with tmpgenc dvd authour.
3) burning with nero.

But am wanting free alternatives, that will do it all in one program. So i could just load the avi, put in a blanc dvd, then hit a button, and come back in a few hours.

is there software to do this?

cheers

I have just had the same problem, just used Nero Vision express. Very easy to use, you just select the .avi files you want and off it goes.

I just Nero and burn as a data DVD rather than a video disc.

It still all plays on my DVD player, and I can get more on as data instead of video as well.

If you want something that does everything you want but a lot quicker- you need WinAVI.

It changes an AVI to DVD in under 40mins on my PC including all chaptering added in automatically for you.

You just gotta burn the finished results- I use it a lot and its not let me down yet.

Hope this helps

Does that work on DivX stuff? Might look it up if it does, I have a load of *cough* aquired *cough* cartoon episodes in AVI format that I want to chuck on a DVD and watch on telly through my DVD player.

Get a DivX DVD player, it saves time and quality loss in re-encoding. Not to mention how much more you can get onto a disc.

Definitely a good idea :) If not get something like a Snazio 1350 or 1310 as it'll stream content from your PC including hi-def stuff.

SUPER DVD CREATOR 8.0
it might be EASY DVD CREATOR

Its drag and drop as well.

Avi -> DVD. Creates all VOB files etc for you, then just use Nero to burn.

I think winAVI works with DIVX rich mate!
You can add as many DIVX files as you want into the program and it will convert them all into DVD format for you in under 40mins depending on your PC.

There is another program I used to use called VSO DivXtoDVD which would handle the file as well although the outcome used to be unreliable in some instances when I used it.

Give it a try though- it may work well for you.
