It's because they can't be bothered to wait in the LH lane, so they speed off when the lights change to get in front of you. As you say...every night ( and day ) the same. Muppets.:loopy:

If hes in one lane he's driving correctly. If hes spanning two lanes then he's an incompetent driver and should be banned.

Why do people rant on here about other drivers ?? they wont see the post.

I appreciate that but nothing ever comes of debates on driving. Some abide by laws others don't and take great pleasure in bragging about it.

Whatever gets the maximum number of cars through the junction while the lights are on green will be best for traffic flow, regardless of whether they end up in the same order or not.

If all vehicles sit in one lane leaving the other empty then waiting times will be longer for everyone.

Be careful what you wish for.

Yes but then there's always the joker that's determined to prevent it from happening and in that event everyone loses.

Payback for being overtaken? Don't ever go on the motorway, you'll end up killing yourself!

I do this most of the time, depending on what car is in the left hand lane and I suggest if you don't want to get overtaken get a quicker car!

Somebody tried that with me once, pulled out in front of me as if he was some sort of hero, I just passed him on the inside and gave him a wave, he didn't look happy. There are 2 lanes there for a reason!

He needs to be banned, and to retake a driving test before he is allowed on the road, because he does not understand the rules of the road

Has it not occurred to you that someone who doesn't have prior knowledge of the road layout would assume that on approaching that junction it would be a fair bet that the right lane would be the one to use.

I think you are making assumptions that people are trying to get one over on you and your intimation that you are actually trying to crash into them on purpose makes you both a dangerous driver and a very small minded individual to assume everyone knows the local layout of every road.

This is true, been caught out a few times with this in various places. Road signs aren't always visible and a lot of road markings are so faint unless you know the road you have no chance, that and a lot of the time sheer volume of traffic obscures lane direction until it's too late to change.
I tend to go the way indicated and find a way back; it's easier than upsetting the neanderthals, although I have to admit. There are still a fair amount of courteous drivers kicking around. I do however expect the opposite so i'm never surprised.
There, I think that covers everything but just incase 'DOH! :)

I must admit, I don't mind being overtaken when I'm in my car. I don't feel it is a slur on my masculinity, I don't feel inferior, I don't feel I have to "get my own back", I don't feel it makes them better than me or necessarily gives them any advantage. It doesn't annoy me, it doesn't stir any emotion in me at all. Sometimes other drivers try and avoid queuing by coming up on the outside then darting in, in front of me. That doesn't bother me either. I think it's a bit discourteous perhaps, I mean, I'd prefer to be asked, but sometimes folks do find themselves inadvertently in the wrong lane, we've all done it, and it's nice when another motorist allows you in front of them. So, I've really no problem with it at all.

It's the same with traffic emerging from a minor junction into a major road. If I'm on the major road and I can see them wanting to turn in or come out of a minor junction, I'll check my mirror to see what the road situation is behind me - if there's a big gap after me I'll just carry on, knowing that they are going to get out soon after I've passed. But if it's choc-a-block then I'll happily slow down and allow them to join/leave the traffic.

I'd love to know what makes some men so ANGRY and COMPETITIVE  when they are driving? Why? Is it really worth it? Do you think it makes the ladies find you more attractive or something? :hihi:

I think it's quite hilarious myself. Especially when some bloke in a white van tries to burn me off - I've got horses to spare - but let them get on with it, if it really helps them to feel more masculine! I'm quite comfortable with myself in that respect - poor souls! :loopy:

You know when someone sits on my bumper, at lights etc I put my car in reverse... Those little lights flicking on is enough to make idiots like you back off... And if the worst was to happen and I reversed, it'd be worth the insurance rise just to stop people like you being so bloody irate! Chill out, so people do daft things to jump 3 cars ahead... No big deal :)

And as a favour you'll end up having increased insurance premiums and they'll end up with a brand new bumper.

Not really sure why everyone in this city thinks that allowing one car to get in front of them is going to make them 3 weeks late for work, it'll make at the very most 20secs of difference to your journey if sayfor example you dont get through the lights because of it. You all need help.

It's just like when people get up to the roundabout brook hill from shalesmoor and want to go up past children's, they get in right hand lane to take third exit and should go into right hand lane but cut across into left hand lane, which they nearly cut me up cause I get in middle lane to go to the same exit and stay in left hand lane to go down past children's they are going to cause a accident soon, as I am aware of this now I am very careful but same cant be said about others

Same here. Once I matured as a driver, if someone wants to try to race me off from the lights or overtake, I don't even rise to it. I just sit there and think "small penis syndrome". And at least 50% of the time said driver is some stupid young fool in their pimped up 1.2 Corsa with oversized wheels and a phat exhaust. Sure doesn't impress me, you cannot polish a turd, and a pimped 1.2 Corsa is still nothing but a 1.2 Corsa. Bless them and their inferiority complex.
