View Full Version : The British constitution Group
banjodeano 16-11-2011, 20:08 I have come across this group, they claim to be of no political party, but a group that aims to give us back our rights and freedoms that have been taken away from us by political parties over the years, they claim that this can be done by the use of common law that has been slowly replaced by statute law, what do you people think

Someone tap them on the shoulder and tell them that the empire has gone.

Surely if the law has been replaced then they would need to pass the law again ergo they would need to be elected which makes them political.
donuticus 16-11-2011, 20:20 Just read the link it's another of those crackpot freeman of the land websites.
The USA has a constitution, so do most other countries. It means that tin pot politicians cannot move the goal posts as it suits them. Under a proper constitution the banks, for a start, could be made to toe the line. Our government could even bring back slavery.............mnd you it already has.......

Is it crackpot  i have been reading it and some of it seems to make sense, have i been duped.? in theory it sounds right.
experienced Parliamentarians like Tony Benn were calling for a written constitution over 40 years ago. Before you 'knowledgable gentlemen and ladies pour scorn on the idea, do a bit of research.
donuticus 16-11-2011, 20:31 I think the UN Declaration on Human rights provides a good framework. What would everyone else want added?

JFKvsNixon 16-11-2011, 20:34 I like that the UK doesn't have a constitution that has to act like some sort of absolute rule of law. As time change so does our morals and what we find acceptable, and as such our laws are a lot freer to change.

Agreed entirely. 100 years ago women voting was very much not the done thing and 40 years ago we were jailing gays.
Tempora mutantur, et nos mutamur in illis. An inflexible constitution would create more problems than it solved.
Mister M 16-11-2011, 20:54 It sounds similar to Charter 88, who lobbied Parliament for various constitutional changes (e.g. Bill of Rights, etc).
I seem to remember that Patricia Hewitt (the one with a fake smile in her voice) was active in Charter 88 before she became a New Labour minister, and then proceeded to remove many of the freedoms that she previously campaigned for....
Just read the link it's another of those crackpot freeman of the land websites.
They're a right load of loons.
GrapeApe 16-11-2011, 21:10 If memory serves from previous threads, one of them will turn up soon telling us how we're all slaves of the state and that we don't have to pay income tax.....or something...

Thats what i just read somewhere....but to be honest, we are slaves of the state
and the state is taking more and more of our liberties away from us, not to mention Brussels, how come they are deciding our fate, i never gave them permission

Yeah, I mean you've got the smoking ban brought in by the government and as for the eu, well they've brought in...oo, well loads of bans that affect me greatly every day. Oh, I know, they wouldn't let me buy fruit in lbs. You can now of course. But they were dark days when you couldn't.
Back of Brussels !!!!

Its some ultra right wing, sub UKIP, anti state gang of nut cases.
Proof enough yet ?????
Proof enough of what?
Proof enough of what?
You wouldn't know a constitution if you saw one. Your idea of a constitution is breakfast, then a crap !!!
andyofborg 17-11-2011, 17:33 just out of interest, how would a written constitution make things better?
Mister M 17-11-2011, 17:42 Dont be a prat all your life, have a day off.
Dear oh dear your debating skills aren't up to much if that's the best you can do.
Rather than vent your frustration at having limited intellect, why don't you take a tablet and lie down in a darkened room. I hope you feel much better soon.
You wouldn't know a constitution if you saw one. Your idea of a constitution is breakfast, then a crap !!!
How rude. Lack of intellect I think.
JFKvsNixon 17-11-2011, 17:58 Goody goody, we can implement Shariah law in a few years time. What fun !!!!:hihi:
Don't be so pathetic, our unwritten constitution protected us from communism, fascism and various other political extremities.
Can you think of another comparable country that has been so stable politically? Germany had the Nazis, The French had their blood thirsty revolution that devoured almost all of it's children, Russia the communists, Spain and Italy had their fascists. The USA had their massive civil war.
They're a right load of loons.
At least they are not drones.

Class warfare mentality exists in this country, and it shows in our politics, it has torn this country apart.

not sure if it was the lack of a constitution which saved us from all that.
there are all sorts of reasons:
the vast majority see political extremists as someone to laugh at rather than support
we also got rid of an absolute monarchy several hundred years before most of the rest of europe
the revolutions in europe scared the elite into making concessions to the poor which removed a lot of the economic and political drivers for a revolution.
andyofborg 17-11-2011, 18:28 At least they are not drones.
they are loony drones or droney loons :)
:banana:You wouldn't know a constitution if you saw one. Your idea of a constitution is breakfast, then a crap !!!
:banana::banana::clap::clap:That is funny.
Just read the link it's another of those crackpot freeman of the land websites.
Correct - the leader, Roger Hayes, has recently been declared bankrupt for refusing to pay his council tax claiming that statutes aren't laws (or similar freeman woo). He's also proposing something called the "Lawful Bank" - even most of the loons who inhabit the David Icke forum have worked out that it's a scam.

We were discussing issues such as this over 40 years ago, we exhausted the subject. Now we just take the mick out of the present day debaters.
Intellect ??? You are not in the same league matey.
And after all that, we STILL need a constitution for our own protection. As long as the politicians, aided by the law lords, can constantly move the goalposts then ordinary bods such as ourselves dont stand a chance.
Back to working on your post count now Halibut, busy busy. :hihi::hihi:

Why? We've never needed one before.

Prison, council tax benefit, pound sterling.
X needs a job, you must pay for his employment.
Council tax is a joke.
The system is corrupt, if your not going to fight it in some way, you might aswell get a job in the council shuffling paper and following pointless rules, at the expense of everyone else.

Been on the waccy baccy again?
andyofborg 17-11-2011, 22:53 Been on the waccy baccy again?
probably spent his council tax money on it
Been on the waccy baccy again?
Again?
I can measure time in waccy baccy. One way or another you'll settle your council tax bill by going to prison, claiming benefit or paying in paper £.
There'll be a job at the council for someone.

A 3 star currency?

Fair point, I guess I did overstate things a bit but my point still stands that we have a very stable system of government and the lack of a written constitution does not make it easier for extremists to tack over.
