I've been thinking about buying one for a while, but apparently most of them are quite buggy and/or noisy. Has anyone got one? What do you think of it?

The Sky service is much better.

Agreed with J Blaze, Sky + is FAR superior to Freeview if you can get it, there are Sky + boxes available on eBay if you don't want to pay full whack for one.

Of course if you buy one on eBay you'll have to pay a ton for delivery probably, and fit it yourself, so it might be worth checking out Dixons et al for a proper one from a shop.

And yes I know all about the anti-Dixons/PC World et al feeling on here before anyone starts.

I got a humax 9200 a couple of weeks ago and I'm very pleased with it. It isn't noisy at all, picture quality is outstanding and it holds up to 100 hours of recorded programmes. I don't like the programme guide as much as the Sony freeview box I was using before but I'm used to the differences now. It's changed the way I watch TV.

Once criticism is that the programme guide only shows up to 7 days in advance and there's no 'season pass' functionality like you'd get on a Tivo, though you can set recordings to repeat daily, weekly etc.

Sky+ is probably better, but it's £10/month on top of whatever other Sky payments you make.

Thanks, I'll check it out.
Sky+ would be ideal, but I don't really watch TV enough to justify the Sky subscription.

I've had the FVRT200 for several months now and am more than pleased with its performance. There was a glitch recently when I was getting a lot of pixellation but it turned out the surveyor had dislodged the aerial.

It takes seconds to record a programme plus has 14 days programme listing. You can watch live TV and rewind or stop the action plus record another one at the same time.
