If I had a quid for the number of folk who've nagged me to put live bands on at one of my rock shows I'd be a rich woman!

So, by popular demand, I'm looking for rock bands to complement my Saturday night rock nights down at the Moorfoot Tavern. It'll be a similar set up to the Classic Rock Bar - you play for beer!

Ideally you should be able to play good ol' sing along rock tunes known by everyone as it's a Saturday night and that's what the crowd will ideally like to hear. I am however known to encourage bands who've got their own material that ROCKS.

Whatever you can offer, send me a PM.

Don't contact the Moorfoot Tavern - they've asked me to organise the whole kaboodle and will just look at you strangely if you ask them for a gig.

Ideally the band would need to do some covers. Think about it....it's a Saturday night crowd. They're out for the weekend. They may be on their way to the Corp. They wanna hear something familiar. The odd original song is fine in the main set, but covers would be best.

Even at the old CRB I put on this type of band on a Saturday. Bands that only played original were given different nights. It's what the punters wanna hear. It doesn't make it right or wrong, but for a Saturday night it needs to be familiar stuff.

Patrick - there is a karaoke on at the broadfield but it wasn't Buffy, some other woman shezoke or something like that? It was ummm...errr...good! *cough cough* Westway is the place to be on a monday for karaoke!

Not really sure which cover has the lyrics that go something like "my girlfriend weighs 18 stone" which was sung at the boardwalk by Phil Murrays band. Each to their own I suppose, but members of my party found a lot of their work insulting.:huh:

I used to be in band in the early 80's......a cross between Hawkwind, Floyd and Tangerine Dream...kind of....interesting in a strangely electronic and unpredictable way...had a knackered old 60's Hammond organ thing and some sound effect boxes.....we formed 8 days before our one and only gig in a youth club in S10 and 6 people turned up! ...then we spilt up 3 hours later......staying power eh.....rock n roll...

There's a fantastic Rotherham band called Everin www.everin.co.uk, heard them a few times in different places and are always great. Get in touch with them and you'll have a few fans following them wherever they play!

What sort is that then - covers bands are fine when they are good at what they do.

The bands I don't like most are the ones mainly consisting of hairy arsed prima donna types, usually playing the guitar at a level above all else going on. I speak from vast experience, and from a woman's point of view. In this world, there is no room for female musicians - unless I am mixing in the wrong circles!

crimes of passion are a good local band, they play at corp often and are headling there in dec, i dropped them a myspace message to see if they would be intrested in playing your venue, they have a good following, dunno the rates they charge, but i wouldnt think it was to high, when in dec they are headlining with two support acts, a £5 per ticket, they have a booking number on there myspace.

they have there own material tho, and thats if you would like them to play or they are what your looking for.

I think I am being misunderstood - I am the female lead vocal for a band called SWANSONG and I responded to a thread re: live bands wanted,somebody wanting a gig etc....
