1995 to 2000, was in D form. Since my parents live at jordanthorpe i've seen the development of the new school whenever i go up, tell you what, wish i had a dirt bike, the mounts they left on the ground was perfect for trailing up :D

I was there 1994-1999, I loved my time at school, my favourite teacher was Mr Church the French teacher, or Mr Howes the English teacher! Love reminiscing about teachers, some of them were legends!!
As for the new school, it's coming on really well, I live on the main road of Meadowhead so see the developments almost every day.

I was there '94-'97 I think? To be honest Gleadless Valley was 10 times better but they closed it while I was there. Still had some good times there :)

As for Mr Church - he didn't like me much after I covered his pink shirt in fountain pen ink :)

I went to meadowhead school as well 1997-2002 my brother still goes there so ive seen the module of the building and it does look really good. Im sure the parents will be pleased with not having to wash trousers every night after walking the field.

I went to Jordanthorpe/meadowhead 1985-90. and having read all these posts, Oh My God, do i feel old.

Mr Freemont was my chemistry teacher. last time i spoke to one of the old teachers i see occasionally, (last time was in hospital bed next to me) he said Mr Freemont had had to retire due to losing his voice.

Mr Taylor, fit English teacher! Think he was with Miss Payne, the language teacher. Miss Beebee was my Art teacher, she was beautiful, yes! Lovely teacher aswell, one of my faves. Can't believe I forgot to mention her! Remember Mrs Bowker?? Vardy and Morgan were both a bit strange I have to agree! My mum went to school when Hensby was there and she says he's like Peter Pan - always looks the same, never ages!
On a more serious note, did anyone hear about Mr Marsden and Mr Mintoft? They have both passed away unfortunately. 2 lovely teachers. What a shame eh.

Good Old Miss Prebble I say Anybody remember Mrs Upperdine the deputy head.... she hadn't been there long.. she had to take assembly.... she couldnt calm us down and she had to go out cos she got real upset.. Miss Prebble came in and told us all off!!

Think you were at JORDANTHORPE slightly before me. I started in 1969, the year the two schools combined and it became a comprehensive. Miss Prebble was formidable, but I always got the impression she would much rather we were some posh grammer school. Do you remember the school song? Do you recall Miss Wood the music teacher, or Mr Hemsby, who played footie with the lads at lunchtime? Or how about Mr Smith or Mr Grenville? They must sureley all be dead by now! I left in 1974, but some of my year stayed on to become the first sixth formers. Best days of our lives, maybe.

I think Mr Hemsby is still with us....Don't know about Mr Grenville he had a serious heart attack right at the end of my school year in 1972....Mr Smith i remember was very tall with brylcreamed dark hair.... Do you remember Mr Wilson the maths teacher? or any of the other p.e. teachers? Hows about Mr Fells the biography teacher...he was rather plump! but he was a very good teacher. I left in 2000. It's about time they started the new buiding, all the time I was there they kept saying they were getting a new building, over 5 years later it's actually happening. Its just a shame we all had to walk between the two buildings. It was so annoying.

God your memory is astounding Megie fancy actually remembering the words to the school song! I am VERY impressed. Mr Granville came back to work 'cos he taught me history at 15/16 - I left in 74. Mr Wilson never taught me but I do recall everyone being scared of him. What about Mrs Brown the French teacher with the amazing lippie? PE teachers I can't remember at all probably because I spent of my time avoiding PE at all costs. What was the name of the art teacher that drove the bubble car? And the Male French teacher who was also Brown? Or the RE teacher Mr Fryer who was the butt of everyone jokes? Did you have to cook a meal for Miss Prebble in the economics flat? I think it all stopped somewhere in my time 'cos I can never recall doing that. Did you have to make the elasticated waist skirt in your first year sewing classes, the one you were supposed to wear as uniform in summer? I wpuld love to go and have a look around before they demolish the old place.

Does anyone remember Frazer Digby, a goalkeeper who was once on the books of Manchester United in the mid-80's with Ferguson then selling him to Swindon in '86 for £32,000? I believe Frazer was a former pupil at Meadowhead.

She gave me A+ in my final report until she realised that my project on Gilbert and Sulivan (Opera). Was in fact Gilbert O Sullivan Afro haired singer.

I had never heard of Gilbert and Sulivan but my sis had a nice record by Gilbert O Sulivert. Doomed she changed my score to F-

i remember mr seaton he was my form teacher 1979/80 i didnt get on with him at all i hated him he didnt like me either i used to spend a lot of time in the heads office working alone because we clashed i walked out of school once as he swore at me( i swore bk at him) il never forget the horrible man

Mr seaton was my form tutor in year 7 for a couple of months till he was Sacked, i'm not sure what for as there are so many roumers surounding the subject.
Mr Eliott (AKA Bog brush!!) took 7K over from him and we had him till we left. what a cool 5 years, i couldn't of had a better form tutor.
I haven't seen the new building as i have lived in kent for nearly 2 years now, i belive Sheffield has changed so much since i left. They were tarting up (trashing) the town centre when i moved.

True to say there are a lot of changes going on in Sheffield at the moment ! Lots of building work going on in the city centre etc . Not to everyones taste agreed but the city is moving forwards into the 21st century at last !

Change is a good thing but too much can ruin a place. I do hope they get the balance right :?.

I was at Jordanthorpe when it changed to Meadowhead. I should of left in 89 but was a bit of a rebel and was never there really. My kids now go to Meadowhead which makes me feel really old!!

Mr Seaton originally taught at Rowlinson and was a horrid man , i think he tried to over step the mark with girls?!!!! anyone know if thats why he was sacked ?

I remember starting off in Endcliffe Park when I was there. I remember me and my mate running the course one year and Miss Welsh accusing us of cheating because we were the first girls back. Just because I had asthma I think she thought I wasn't capable lol! But we did run the whole course and god I was f****d after!!!

Anyone remember all the rumours/stories that used to go around about the teachers?:smile: There used to be some really funny ones :lol: . I remember one involving a male Drama teacher and a female P.E teacher. I think the Drama teacher was Mr Harrold? :help:

i was there 85-90
i remember it merging, the two schools used to fight all the time. i used to knock about with mark blythe, andrew furniss, bret stocks, we all lived on lowedges. we were always up to no gud.

I went from 1994-1999.

I recall Mr Mintoft was a physics teacher. He was tall with a moustache and I think he had a blue spitfire. Is he still around?

The other physics teachers I can remember were Mr Pollard (the DJ, see him in Sainsburys occasionally) and Mr Adams (think he moved to a school in Doncaster).

Still see Mr Wilson and his wife walking around the area (she was a librarian at Greenhill library).
